Examining Arkatreides' unit cards, I saw one thing that i thought was really weird: You can recruit Kleruchoi Phalangitai In North-western Africa, South-east Spain and Gaul. I can understand why you decided to make them recruitable in Africa (Alexander's plans of conquering it) but there is one obvious problem: None of the Hellenic factions can build a type 2 government there. So no Kleruchoi Phalangitai. So I wanted to ask this question: Why did you decide to do it this way? Was it a mistake? Intentionally for some reason that I am not able to see?:laugh4:

It was originally set up so that you could get them anywhere that there would be conceivably farming estates. These estates would then have to contribute Kleurchoi Phalangitai to the state. Though, as you said, you can't build the appropriate government to get them, so it doesn't really matter.
I remember reading an internal discussion about this. Those recruitment areas in the west may have been removed and the cards not updated...

Sry to bring this topic up again, but I think this is better than creating a new one. The unit cards tell me that Kleruchikoi Phalangitai are also available in India. But India also has no "Expansion" resource. Are they available there through the regional barracks or are they supposed to be unrecruitable like the ones in Africa and Gaul? I just thought it would be very sensible to allow the AS to build a type 2 government there, especially as you can put a FM in position of a viceroy there. And I think that India would be one of the places where new katiokiai (sp?) are most possible, especially as there already is a substantial greek population. But I'm no historian, so I may be wrong, and
I'm not a member of the EB team either, so perhaps there are reasons for teh current situation that I do not know.

KP's can be recruited with type 3 governments by AS (& Ptolemies IIRC). Secondly, KP's were originally intended to be tied to farming estates (Ousidia) which is possible to creat anywhere. Dunno why that never got through; but I guess it'll have something to do with the connection engine limitations & modder's desire not being as smooth as one would want it to be.
