Sorry if EB members would find this swearing in any way,)
I have some gameplay issues, questions, and comments (all about EB 1).

..I am playing EB 1 with Makedonija, I'v destroyed Greek Cities (I just can not use EB faction or city names yet-- they are so far to me - maybe in a few weeks), Pyrros and his faction in Greece and Balkan, I have Byzant, Pergam, Sardis.. and all in some short time period .. dont now what year now..

FIRST A BUG: in 270 - I end turn and I am in 14 AD ,..yes all those 'historic year' messages are there (abuot 150 -- dont now), but, I load the game and end turn again and all is fine (I can upload my save --before this occured-- just tell my where)

SECOND (and this is going to be nasty) :::MY TRAITS::: I have 9 family members 2 allied characters and no one exept Antigonus Gonatas (my faction leader from the start) is having NOT A SINGLE STAR OF TRAIT :furious3: !! IS THAT A BUG ??
I have 4 generals with ''grey and up to yellow stripe'' and I have one with two yellow stripes (and he has about 30 years) -- and this one is the point, PLEASE READ THIS, I had him in many battles (when he was second in command), and I had him 'only' when I won two Heroic Battles, he took Byzant, Epirot Capital, Pergamus, Rhodos and Sardis... AND HE IS WITHOUT A SINGLE STAR !!!:furious3: Only My Antigonos has 4 stars or 3.. I mean what the...:wall:
AND ALL OTHER OPPONENTS HAVE SOME NASTY -NEVER SEEN A BATTLE- Generals ! Even rebels,...

Sorry if that was to hard - I realy like and play EB and all EB team is top! BUT ! I can not make myself belive that this is real :inquisitive:

I wont write now about unit costs and battle gameplay.. that is far away - just like to add that it is probably I will reach Persian sea without a single elephant or catapult equipment..is that history?

I am not trying to say that something is wrong in the game - it is more likely that I am not used to play the EB-way ! Still, somethings are a problem to me, it is hard to understand.. It seems like I tried so fard to get to some victories and My generals have expiriense 4,5,6,7 and up to 8, and no stars -- and they have gone through hell I tell you, IT IS NOT FAR, I swear I am going to cry ! :(

IF EB Members could help me 'tweak' EBBS script or anything so that I could Have more stars to my generals...

Thank you for your Time !

You should search the general forum. These issues have been answered numerous times.

Can you please just, write something .... it feells unfair, or could it be possible that the only way to get a trait (as I found out around here :inquisitive: ), is to cheat?

Can there be some tweaks to hekp my family members? some URL

I swear I am going to cry here :sweatdrop:

If there is nothing you can do :shame:

I'm off :balloon2:

Welcome Maksimus,

FIRST A BUG: in 270 - I end turn and I am in 14 AD ,..yes all those 'historic year' messages are there (abuot 150 -- dont now), but, I load the game and end turn again and all is fine (I can upload my save --before this occured-- just tell my where)Are you sure the background script was on? To activate it, simply select a settlement, and select the "show me how" button when the advisor pops up. This may, or may not, rectify the problem in your existing save. If it fails, and you've had the script off, then it may be wise to start a new campaign - your existing one, although still playable, will probably lack some EB functionality.

If the script has been on, you can upload your save game using any free uploading service. I would recommend either MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com) or FileFactory (http://www.filefactory.com), although a Google search for "Free File Hosting" (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=free+file+hosting&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a) may reveal some more.

AND ALL OTHER OPPONENTS HAVE SOME NASTY -NEVER SEEN A BATTLE- Generals ! Even rebels,...The Europa Barbarorum team have made it much harder for generals to gain battle stars. Their primary reason for doing this is simply that they aren't especially effective.

Research shows that each command star adds an extra point of morale to every unit within the general's vicinity.

Due to this, the team have replaced command stars with morale bonuses which apply to all troops upon the battlefield lead by the General in question. You may find some examples of these bonuses among the traits of your leaders.

Rebels and other AI factions have command stars added to their array by script. I'm not quite sure why this is though, although I do believe that it may be related to the auto-resolve function. Sorry.

I wont write now about unit costs and battle gameplay.. that is far away - just like to add that it is probably I will reach Persian sea without a single elephant or catapult equipment..is that history?I'm not able to comment on historical accuracy, but I do feel that it may be there to increase the challenge presented to the player. As before though, I'm not completely sure about this, so you may have to wait for somebody more knowledgeable to confirm.
IF EB Members could help me 'tweak' EBBS script or anything so that I could Have more stars to my generals...Perhaps this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=91312) will interest you.

Hope this helps, sorry for my lack of clarity, good luck, cheers!

EB does not generally use player command stars, so don't worry if you have few of them. Look for the morale-boosting traits which more accurately depict how good a general is.

We use command stars for the AI purely to balance the auto-resolve battles.

Look through the FAQ and the forums for more details.

This happens when you reload a game without rebooting RTW. It's a bug with the script engine, where the EBBS of your previous game remains in the game's memory. When you reload without saving, this old script takes off again from where it was left, which obviously is not how it should work.

Yes, thank you Omanes Alexandrapolites and everyone for these answers...

But, I must say that I am in tnis story now here and on TWC forums, and, my point is not in my generals Stars as of their function, but more as their sign and symbol of power and success on the battle field!

For me, that is very important, and as of corrective function of EB or just 'enemy generals' --- well , I can just say that it is a way of a more challenging game, and at the same time, a 'less-value' to you efforts,

Amd stars are stars, so nice and shining, if there are many of them, then its better:yes:

I'd say that in that case it just "SUX 2 B U". ~;p
Besides, I think those Heroic Victory markers on the map make for way better and more lasting testimonies of your generals', uh, prowess.

I agree the Heroic Victory makers are alot more interesting than stars. Always brings back fond memories of some enemy making a floolish mistake to attack me.

It is also nice to come across some other empires heroic victory and wonder what happened at that site

Those little crossed sword marks on the map?
They're ace.. In the last version of EB, Greece and Macedonia were covered in them.

Haven't created any myself yet in 1.0, though I did find one from where (I think) Rome and the Aedui clashed in Northern Italy.

Maksimus - gaining traits also depends on your character's personality (eg sharp/uncharismatic/langorous). Having young characters in cities with educational buildings helps too.
I love the way traits are handled in EB, it makes selecting potential husbands for your daughters much more interesting - finding the balance between age, traits and personality is a lot more fun than simply waiting for a characters with several stars/scrolls.
