Did you guys use an outdated description for them or are they suppose to have an underhanded attack with a short sword?

Doesnt the description says: "Its their special kind of combat" or something like this?

I know they only have a primary spear attack like regular Classical Hoplites in my EDU anyway, though. Probably an oversight, as the model's been given a secondary swordsman skeleton and the other users of the model - Liby-Phoenician infantry - are pure "old skool" copyright-infringement hoplites.

It'd be a very easy copy-paste job to put it in if there's a secondary attack missing though.

I guess there was some miscommunication between the unit statter and the unit integrater and creator. Thanks for notecing, it will be looked at.

As we are in the topic, any chance we could get some more historical details about them?

And while we are at it, who can recruit them?

I want them in my Carthaginian armies :D

AFAIK they are a KH only unit...
According to the recruitment zone software carthage and epeiros can't get them and I think anybody else would be even less likely.

There's skin slots listed for Romani, the Koinon, Epeiros and Macedon on top of the rebels mind you... the Carthies already use the model for their Liby-Phoenicians so they're obviously out anyway.

Yes as Watchman said, because they share model with Liby-Phoenician infantry, if we give Syrakosioi Hoplitai to Carthage their hoplites would still look like Liby-Phoenicians.

Surely Syracuaseans would never have served Carthage anyway, given the level of hatred between them?

They were allied during Second Punic War and we got that type4 government thingy in EB

Also noticed that the Elite Indian Hoplites of Baktria have a sword instead of a spear unlike their picture.

Watchman

That's likely because they use the same model as the Baktrian Agema and Agema Hellenikon who have a sword as a primary weapon.

Just because they use the same model, does that mean they have to have the same attack? Or is i jsut the stupid RTW swords dominace bug?

Looks like the Romani can't recruit Syracusian Hoplites, according to the Recruitement viewer.

That or I'm just blind.

My hunch is it's because the model has fs_swordsman as the primary skeleton, and unlike the other two units using it the Noble Hoplites don't have a primary sword attack - instead they have only a spear attack, which is in the primary slot.

If the unit however then wields a sword as a result (rather than trying to use its spear as a sword or something), that sounds like it may well have been supposed to have a sword attack too which for one reason or another was forgotten.

On a related note: although I haven't looked into the matter much, the Kardakas (the Persian copy hoplites) seem to have been skinned for a pretty fancy-looking short sword, but nothing else in their file entries suggests anything "swordy". Dunno if that's of any significance.

does this mean, that if i choose type4 government i can recruit them with kart-hadast?

No you can't.

I don't think so because there is no skin for a Karthadastim version.

they are on the same model as the libu phoenician Spearman. Karthadast is using both their faction slot and the merc slot on it for the early and the late version og their hoplite style soldiers which makes the Syracusian inaccessable for the Karthadastim.

Spear is their secondary weapon, but i wanted to make the UI looking the same as on the concept art Caratacos did:
