*shakes head

And you all criticise the QLD system

Have fun, mate, and just remember that we never have to deal with external examinations worth 50% of our mark up here :laugh4:

oooh modern.

FWIW my subjects:

Enhlish, Math B (middle strand), IPT, Drama, Economics, Accounting plus the seventh subject of Life Skills for half the year, the Christian Studies(not actually on Christianity anymore, on world religion, which means you learn something unbyst!)

Had the first of four examweeks a mere week ago, together with the other three they constitute 50 % of my final marks. I'll know how I've done when school starts in a couple of days.

Good luck Rythmic and CA.

Should have taken C, but that's another story ~;)

I hope the exams treat(ed) you well Dutch_guy!

So sapi and pever how does the QLD system work?

Exam was quite nice, an easy way to start. What'd you think CA?

oooh modern.
Possibly the worst subject I have ever had the misfortune of taking.

School assessment goes on all year round (including term 4).

An external examination called the QCS test is then used to rank both schools, and subjects, based on the results of students in those subjects.

The school then ranks students within subjects, and overall.

Possibly the worst subject I have ever had the misfortune of taking.*grimaces

Ours is 30% aussie history, which is why I didn't take it :grin2:

Is yours the same?

An arcane system thus allocates a set number of OP scores (exit grades) to ecah school, and these are distributed.

Good luck with English Paper 1 tomorrow CA.
Thanks.

I am doing Ext 1 English (Though doing utter rubbish in the Extension part  ), 2 Unit Maths, Ancient History, Extension History, Business Studies and I accelerated in Software Design and finished it last year (Got 88 overall, which is scaled up very nicely).

Ours is 30% aussie history, which is why I didn't take it
Aussie history is compulsory in years 9 and 10, so AFAIK there is none of it in the HSC.

I was surprised. The comprehension was harder than the last couple of years, because they asked an Analyse question which I did not see coming (I still think I did quite well in it. A page on 3 marks should be fine). One of the quotations (Number 3) fit my story about journeying through space by looking through a microscope really well, so I nailed that section and the essay was unusual. I wasn't expecting a question like that (I did Inner Journeys), but I think I did fine. Just about filled up a booklet in both sections I and II.

So yeah, that's my breakdown of how I went. I only need 83 UAI and I go to a Selective school, so I think I'm set in that regard.

Oh and Good Luck Dutch_Guy!

Chemistry - 7 (6,8)
Biology - 7 (6,7)
History - 7 (7,1)

Was something like that, don't do more than needed

No Aussie History in the Modern course, but it's just as boring. I'm sick of the Bolsheviks, Trotsky, WWI and Israel!

Yeah, the comprehension, was tricky, but not impossible. I used the same quotation for my Creative Writing, I pre-prepared a response for it. I did the physical journey, the question threw me at first, but it was actually a nice question. Wrote the similar amounts. Then again having a teacher who is a published author and poet does help.

I accelerated in Software Design
Lucky, last years one was the "easy" year. And as 2005 was the hard year, this years one will be the hard one! :gah:

I only need 83 UAI
If you got 88 in Software that's definitely within your reach! I need to get 85 for my 1st choice, 83 for my 2nd and 80 for my 3rd. It all hinges around how well I do in English I think.

So basically, the end of year 12 IB tests start in two weeks.

Same here, half our year does it. Most of the courses are the same. I think most start on the 2nd of November.

2 down, 4 to go. I'm so glad it was all essay writing today! No speeches or feature articles. ~D

Actually its Lower Sixth IB (otherwise known as "IB year 1" or to the uncouth "year 12").

So yes. ~;)

I mentioned northern hemisphere not to try and be sophisticated but because the southern hemisphere take their exams at a different time.

I am actually getting a lot out of this program - I don't know why anyone could regret making the decision to stay on...

What is this talk of Final exams? Isn't it the start of the school year for you guys from Europe???

CountArach
10-23-2007, 05:30
It is for the Europeans. But us Aussies have our seasons all mixed up, so we start in January... sort of makes sense when you think about it...

Business Studies today... only 4 more to go.
