I finally had time to install 1.0 yesterday, but I kept getting the same problem. First I reinstalled RTW, applied the 1.3 and 1.5 patches, and then installed EB. Everything seemed to work and the installed finished and it looked like everything was fine, but when I went to play the first EB loading screen came up and I got a message saying "Error loading mount database". Then a message came up saying "Script Error in eb/data/descr_mount.txt, at line 105 column 1. Could not find battle model for mount 'camel'."
I am pretty sure I installed everything in the right locations, and I know that I had a clean RTW 1.5. I tried searching around here but it doesn't look like anyone else is haveing the same problem. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Could you run the validation program and post your results here?
Edit: It seems to have fallen off the first page. Here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=93236) it is.

I ran the validation program a few times, and each time the ebvalidationresults.txt file popped up and was completely blank.
Are you sure you have java installed? And that you run it from the RTW directory (IE not a folder underneath)?

Yes I have Java, and it is in C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War, where the RomeTW.exe is.
Could you add a line with pause to the end of the batch file and run once more? If there's an error message, it will then be readable before it quits.

That worked, and I got a long list of missing and added files. IE freaks out if I try to post it all. They are .tga, .tga.dds, .cas, .wav, with a few others.
Then you have probably not installed it in the right folder. If IE can't handle the list, perhaps Firefox can? Anyway, if you upload it to some hosting service (axifile, rapidshare etc) I can take a look.

It does seem like I have installed it in the wrong folder, but I know that when I installed EB I copied and pasted the path of my RTW directory in, so it shouldn't be wrong.
The ebvalidationresults is here:

You may have a clean 1.5 RTW, but you don't have a clean EB... You have installed the first cohorts mod, which is not compatible with 1.0 AFAIK. Please try a clean EB install first.

Ok. I thought I got rid of everything when I uninstalled but I guess not.
Thanks alot for your help!
Even if all those other changes didn't point me to it, these ones were a dead giveaway :beam:.
Added file: .\eb\readme_citymod.txt
Added file: .\eb\readme_firstcohortmod.txt

I finally got it to work! It turns out that I had been installing it correctly, and everything was clean, etc. The problem was that there was a lot of leftover wierd stuff in C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Totalwar. I deleted it all and now EB 1.0 works fine.
I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else... it was quite possibly the most frustrating thing I have had to deal with in a long time. :wall:
I think I'll stay away from Vista for quite some time... Enjoy the game!
