Went once in my life and decided it was not what I like. So I have not gone ever since and likely won't ever again.

Once, but never again. Night clubs aren't compatible with me - after my first, and last, attempt, I woke up the with the music still ringing within my ears, and with my legs aching terribly. Strangely enough, I didn't remember doing too much dancing either.

Not my thing, but I have been to them. I prefer softer music, more light, and less people. :P
I like to go to light Nightingales.

You guys are all old hags, clubbin is awsome! The music, the people, nightlife. go with friends though a lot more fun. But it really depends how old you are. If your gonna go to those 26 year old clubs, its gonna suck, they smell, and its terrible. Go to the ones above 18, and you'll like it more.

Hell, I used to love going to discos nightclubs when I was younger and singler. :help:
Nearly 20yrs later, I'd rather be sat in my local having a laugh with my mates.
Christ I sound old, and sounding old makes me feel old... time for my evening nap after a cup of cocoa.
But seriously, you should be out enjoying the meat markets clubs while you are young, firm buttocked and responsibility free. :belly: :music: ~ ~:flirt: :burnout:
C'mon guys, I'm guessing a lot of you are late teens-early twenties. It's your duty to do it... and enjoy it. Don't get old before your time.

What's a 26 year old club?

A favourite activity of the moronic majority, this involves being shunted like cattle into a converted warehouse... sadly not to be slaughtered, but to wear ridiculous trendy clothes, listen to crap eardrum-shattering music, try to pick up brainless members of the opposite sex, and generally stand around aimlessly in a desperate but pointless attempt to show how cool you are.

The act of paying ridiculous amounts of money to enter a dimly-lit, highly-flammable room just to dance for a few hours to overly repetitive music that a 5-year old composed. And you have to dress like you're going to a royal banquet or the bouncer will throw you out. Usually, illegal drugs are served so as to help the attendees tolerate the music.

So, no, I don't like clubbing.

Ice, have you ever had fun? Or is your definition of fun banging away on a keyboard?
You are pretty much correct in what you have quoted, but thats what I used to find fun. I used to love being pissed in a hot sweaty nightclub, trying to pull girls that wouldn't look at me if they were sober, or ugly ones at the end of the night.
Now I'm not hunting women and I have finally realised I can't dance even after 15 pints of Stella I don't go.
But I'm glad I did.
Perception changes as you get older, but don't miss having fun because you are trying to be too old too quick, you'll have no fond memories to look back on. And what sort of best man's speech can anyone give about you then?

Clubs are not my real thing. They're a great place to meet girls when you need one, don't mistake that. But I favour something like a pub. Less loud music, maybe even being able to sit, have a good chat.

They're a good time if you go to the right one. They have advantages over bars in that they are more crowded, have more music and dancing, and flashy lights. Disadvantage is the price and not being able to hear what people are saying.

Well.... have you ever seen the big crazy club scene in the last Matrix movie(you can youtube it)? Well remember when that dude whipped his hair and sweat flew in every direction. Well, that kinda happened to me during the only time I ever went to a club, but it was a girl instead of a dude and when she whipped her head around on a move while dancing to my right with her friends.... her stinky and sweaty wet hair mauled my face. To say the least I've never been to a club again:no:

Ice pretty much summed it up for me. I went to em', when I first started College, but after about six months of puking, sweating, and ermmm... being randy, I decided it really wasn't my thing at all. Had to get it out of my system though.

A few times I think. I'm not really sure though.

Or is your definition of fun banging away on a keyboard

Wouldn't you break your keyboard if you were "banging away" on it?

You are pretty much correct in what you have quoted, but thats what I used to find fun.

I find it crap for reasons listed above. I'd rather hang out with friends drinking or go to a relaxed party in someone's apartment/house.

I've been to numerous clubs, on this continent and in Europe. They all sucked.

Been once for my formal (I guess a prom in America or something) after-party. It was easy to get booze, even though I am under-age. The music was not music and the booze was too expensive (AUS$7.50 for a beer! :wall:). Pretty average really, not something I'll do often in the foreseeable future.

I used to go every thursday, friday and saturday night in the mid to late 70s.* In the eighties mebbe once a week, in the 90s once in a blue moon.

Now I like a good meal in a restaurant. Plus my ears have stopped bleeding! :skull:

The closest thing I came to a club was a pub, or 'bar' in Los Angeles in which a few ska acts were playing. No idea who they were, I was rather intoxicated. Good fun though! Skanking is much harder when influenced by certain substances.

I've been to one once, when a band I liked was playing. I don'y really like dancing, very crowded rooms, or the type of music played at most clubs where I live, so I've never really felt any urge to go.

I do like like taverns, though. ~

Club - The more modern disco, with flashy lights, lots of exquisite dressed up people, house music and (bleah) lots of Red Bull and drinking and smoking.

That's a definition of a club.

Nope!

I do the partying/dancing/etc, but at my student association, not in real clubs. I've done so once, a few months ago, and it wasn't all that nice. (perhaps the wrong club)

That's a rather narrow definition, almost feared that, well I've never been in such a club.

Meh, I probably won't even step in a club. They sound too noisy, too crowded... If I pay to enter to wake up next morning with a massive headache and aches all around my body... Hell will have frozen over, most likely.

Husar
10-19-2007, 13:22
The headache is easily prevented by drinking enough water and you left out the fun part which usually comes before the morning. Whether the place is too crowded depends on many things, if you keep close to some pole, you will usually have more space. ~D

Actually the best way to prevent a severe hangover is to drink one or two glasses of water before going to sleep (but after drinking beer and/or wodka)

Clubbing is a far more variable experience than going to bars. You probably aren't going to have a bad experience in a pub, but you can in a club as you pay to play, so if you don't make the most of it you're wasting a fair bit of money.

BKS's hints for successful getting doooooooooown;

-Do your research before you part with your money. What sort of music does the club play-if you like house, you don't want to be stuck somewhere playing cheese or R&B all night. What kind of market is it catering to-students, or merchant bankers with cash to blow? What age range is it aimed at? Do you need to be on a guest list? Knowing these things will allow you to make the right decision about where to go.
-A lot of the clubs aimed at young people will have cheap nights one night a week. This is a serious advantage, and should not be sniffed at. In some places you can save almost half of the money you would have spent on drinks. Plus, on these nights everyone in the know will be going there, making for a good atmosphere.
-Go with a big group of friends, rather than in just a two or a three. This is important. You can peel off and talk to other people as you like without feeling you're abandoning your friends, as they have others they know to keep them company, or you can stay with the group. Plus you won't feel like a knob for leaving your best mate on his own if you pull early.
-Do most of your drinking before-hand. This will save you a lot of money, as well as time you would have spent queueing at the packed bar. Furthermore, you'll be in the mood for dancing as soon as you arrive.
-Go often. You'll gain more confidence in the setting, which will improve your goals to games record. If you go to the same club on a certain night a lot, you'll get to know other people who go there too. Furthermore, some nights are just average. You have to go a lot of times to get that elusive 'amazing night'.

Hopefully this will help some of the posters with more negative views about night-clubs have a better time.

Really, what BKS said. I completely second that advice, and particularly the part about clubbing with a larger group of people than just one or two friends.

Zim
10-19-2007, 21:21
BKS's advice is very good, but I think a lot of it will fall on deaf ears. Some people just don't like crowds, or loud music, or whatever.

And some of us are just married old fogeys(in my case, I've reached the ancient age of 24). ~;)

Larger groups are good for hanging out in bars, but for clubs I think groups of three or four is better. If I'm with 6 or more people I usually end up talking to them for pretty long, that doesn't mean it's boring but I'm also less likely to actually approach girls. That's just my opinion, though.

Agree about the rest.

Dutch_guy
10-20-2007, 12:47
Definitely go with a group, always. It helps getting into clubs if you're under age (:sweatdrop: ), they'll never turn away a group of 6 or more people, and for the reasons BKS already mentioned. Good list, btw, BKS.
