 Is there any way to get rid of these dreadful green arrows? They are extremely ugly and should be abolished immediately, but unfortunately, I can't find any preferences files. :help:

Yep. Go to your Rome Total War\EB\prefernces folder open the file called "preferences.txt" do a search for "DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS" and set that one to "TRUE" as opposed to the default "FALSE". You can also turn off banners by switching "SHOW_BANNERS" to "FALSE". You can turn of the weird glow in the dark GFX effect called "UNIT_EXPERIENCE_UPGRADE_EFFECT" by switching to "FALSE" there as well. Doing this only removes the retarded glow in the dark effect; and it doesn't effect gameplay in any other way.

Go to your EB folder, open preferences and search for this:

DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:FALSE

change to:

DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:TRUE

save,

and they are gone, forever!

Edit: Tellos was faster!

Oh, I found the problem. :smash: With this hell on earth known as Windows Vista, I had to click a button called "compatibility files" with the EB folder selected, just to show the preferences folder. :dizzy2: So much for being "user-friendly" and "easy to use" :furious3:

If you do this, will it just remove the arrows or does it get rid of the slight glow etc. i.e. will it make it so you can't tell which unit you've clicked on as easily?

Disable arrow markers disables arrow markers; and does not do anything to the highlight; if that's what you meant (the exceedingly bright glow)?
