its ok for the joiners to quit the battle if they lose but the host is different.

hosta should not escape games just because there losing it means spoiling the fun and sensation of winning for the winners.

Just now i was playing a 2v2 and i succesfully drove 2 armies of a socking great hill, while my aly sadly was routed completly.

i completly routed and killed the hosts army and as soon as the last unit was routed the host escaped.

hmm annoyed cause i could swear i got at the most 2000 kills and i just wanted to see that and feel good about myself.

damn i said as the host quit.
*sora hits fist on desk*

i much appreciate RAGES (my enemy on field) anger at the culprit (who shall not be named)
if you are the host and you escape you will make ur self thoroughly unpopular, so DONT.

yours tenkisoratoti.

p.s does anyone know the answer to this question?

How democratic was the franchise in britain in the early 19th century?

(dunno why they give me this kinda 'Q' in year 7 http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif )

an answer would greatly gratify me http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

I disagree, actually, I think its rude for anyone to quit the battle without asking first. If you lose, the least you can do is stick around and root for your allies from the sidelines. I've seen a lot of people rush headlong at the enemy in the first 45 seconds of the game, lose quickly, and then drop out of the game. It makes me think they dont give a damn about their allies, they were just trying for a quick win. If it doesnt work out, they go do the same thing to another game. I dont want to play like that, I want good allies, who will stick by me until the end (with or wihtout troops).

You can help your allies by bringing enemy movements to their attention, and giving advice. You can learn from watching the battle play out.

Please, to all, do not quit just because all your troops are routed. Stick around and support your allies.

Going to add a message in the patch to remind the host of his responsibilities if he presses escape.

Little suggestion for the message:

"If you leave this battle you ruin the game for everyone. If you continue with this action, Medieval: Total War will format your C drive. Are you sure you want to quit?"

It's getting warm in here...that must be one hell of an INFERNO!

Mmmm.

At the moment it's going to be:

"Are you sure you want to quit? This will end the game for everyone."

Suggest better/clearer alternatives quickly.

Good observation. However these peeps shouldn't be called dishonourable or something if they're new. They just don't know how to play a team game - they interpret a 2v2 as 2 seperate 1v1's not a big 1v1 all together. So they rush. And they're annoyed. And they escape...the game would be spoilt...a 2v3 with full armies same money on both sides (and with average skills) is impossible to win for the '2', unless they use very good tactics which one 5 or so players in the whole community know and put to practice well. Hence the game is spoilt...unless one of the '3' volunteers to stay back - a very honourable act.

But still I can justify the rush and following escaping of the noob...he needs time and determination and help. Not pestering because he escaped! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I agree with dionysus - anybody quiting out is rude - especially if they quit out in a huff or rage just because they lost a battle...or look like they will lose.

On the other hand - what's the big deal?

Unless its a competition or similar its really no big deal is it? Rude, yes, but hardly earth shattering.

Personally i only now playw ith those i know or who are willing to play at least 2 games in a row - so that the battle can be done from either side with exactly the same units and factions. I've seen way too many people complaining that "the only reason you won is because:

1) you were on a hill
2) you camped [theres no such thing as a defender]
3) you cheated
4) there are too many trees
5) it was in the desert and you didnt tell me
6) it was raining
7) my dog ate my keyboard
8) I spilt my guinness

If you think you can beat somebody then play them over the same map with the same units, same era, same weather, swap defender and attacker and dont quit.

GAH!

Allow host to quit only if all other players that are still in (ie, do NOT count those already dropped... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif ) allow it by selecting YES on a popup.

So...

Host hits ESC and hits YES.

All other players get a popup saying host wants out. If ANY ONE OF THEM HITS 'NO', the Host is not allowed to drop and the game goes on. If at least one hour has gone by since game start, then the host can drop without permission.

Whaddyatinkabbatdis?
