1. A campaign lag might also be caused by an undeleted map.rwm in any of the basic map folders, the game will eventually run faster and be less sensitive to cdts???

2. Is it necessary to delete all map.rwm in all folders (EB data, RTW data, BI data) to have no cdts and campaign slowdown or is it sufficent to delete the map.rwm in EB data?

Could someone comment on this and please tell me, whether this is true or false?

...If you delete the map.rwm you'll have to abandon your old saves . Weird **** happens when you play old games with a new map.rwm

That makes no sense. map.rwm is automatically regenerated when you start up the game. I delete it and run saved games all the time when i make changes in my game...never a problem

map.rwm is a compilation of map targa (*.tga) and text (*.txt) files that are translated into a language the game can better understand so it can run more smoothly. It is generated at the start of a campaign or when you load a savegame and is not, to my knowledge, modified while you're actually playing. It therefore shouldn't be causing any slowdown or CTDs. The only time you need to delete map.rwm is when you modify any of the map-related files (pretty much anything in the "world" folder). It also has some significance in starting MP games.

I've had no issues with loading savegames with a newly-generated map.rwm.
