I've made a clean copy of vanilla 1.5, downloaded EB v1 and installed it. When I try to play the game, I just get the vanilla title screen for a second or so then it goes back to the desktop as if nothing has happened. No error message...nothing. I'm hardly the most computer-literate of people, but I've never had this problem with EB before! I've tried re-downloading, but it doesn't help. Any ideas? I'm sure it's something very simple!

Right...I've tried bovi's install validating thing, and the result is a rather long list:

'You seem to have a corrupt install. There are changes to files, or some are missing.
However, these may be conscious changes you have made, to remod EB. See below for details.

Missing file: .\data\animations\engine\ballista\ballista_crank.cas
Missing file: .\data\animations\engine\ballista\ballista_crank.evt
...'

etc.

This goes on for a very long time, halfway down changing to 'added files'. Seems like every file in both data folders is on there somewhere. Funny thing is, I seem to be able to find these files if I look for them myself. Can anyone help? I'm sure it's something obvious..

If you have a corrupt install, you may want to uninstall everything, redownload, and reinstall everything...

You have very likely installed EB in the wrong folder. If you posted the whole output I could be certain.

Go into you file manager and look if your original RTW installation (Program Files\Activision or Program Files\The Creative Assembly) has a folder called "EB" in it.
If it doesn't or if the Activision folder contains only the EB-folder and not much else, then you have installed it wrong.
Reinstall it then and make sure you put it in the right folder (probably "The Creative Assembly")

Think it must have been a faulty download - I've re-downloaded it once more and it seems to be working at last. Thanks everyone for your help! Looking forward to seeing all the changes made to my lovely Getai!
