View Full Version : 1.0 fixes you should try before posting
NOTE THAT THESE FIXES ARE FOR 1.0, NOT 1.1!
DO NOT POST ANYTHING HERE BUT COMMENTS ON THE FIXES, SUCH AS A BROKEN LINK. FOR HELP, CREATE YOUR OWN THREAD.
Having a crash before even starting the campaign? Take a look at the EB installation validation sticky before posting a thread for help.
I will post important updates here, for instance CTD fixes. When the instructions say to unpack files, you can use 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/), which is free.
If your game crashes, with all permanent fixes installed, please try more than once as some crashes happen as flukes, never to return. These flukes are impossible to investigate, so only post a report if the crash is persistent (or happens very often spread over some turns).
The temporary fixes will disable varying degrees of functionality and should therefore only be used to get past a persistent crash. Even if installing a temporary fix gets you past the problem, we still want you to post the savegame (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=80870) before the persistent crash, to help us find permanent, non-gamebreaking fixes. Try all the temporary fixes before posting. When you do post, make sure to say which temporary fix got you past it. If it still crashes with the temporary ones, please answer the questions found here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=83728) in your report.
Permanent fixes for 1.0:
descr_disasters.txt NOT RETROACTIVE
Updated 2007-10-21
Some of the new disasters are in rare cases too powerful, killing all the soldiers in a stack and causing a CTD when doing some things with it afterwards, and possibly ghost armies will besiege your town. This will reduce the effect from apocalyptic to catastrophic.
The fix will overwrite world/maps/base/descr_disasters.txt, you may want to make a backup first.
Download this file from the EB FTP (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/disaster.rar).
Unpack into <RTW directory>/EB/data.
Delete or rename <RTW directory>/EB/data/world/maps/base/map.rwm. It will be regenerated when you next start the game.
Oppida PROBABLY RETROACTIVE
Updated 2007-10-23
If an Oppidum is present in a settlement with an incompatible culture, such as Arsé, the game will CTD when loading a battle on that tile, or viewing the settlement. Redmeth has fixed this so it will no longer crash. Unfortunately, this is part of a packed file which means the fix is pretty big (file size).
The fix will overwrite descr_walls.txt and packs/mod_0.pak, you may want to make backups of these first.
Download this file from Rapidshare (http://rapidshare.com/files/69392746/oppida.rar.html).
Unpack into <RTW directory>/EB/data.
export_VnVs.txt RETROACTIVE
Updated 2007-10-25
A couple of people had crashes when viewing the recruitment in Rome. This was caused by the faction leader gaining three levels of Dignitas before dying. This will correct a typing mistake that was causing the crash, now he may become as dignified as he'd like.
The fix will overwrite text/export_VnVs.txt, you may want to make a backup of this first.
Download this file from the EB FTP (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/Manivs.zip).
Unpack into <RTW directory>/EB/data.
Script fixes PARTLY RETROACTIVE
Updated 2008-03-01: Added note and link to a helpful post about how to fix the reform spam in ongoing campaigns.
The Sweboz reform has a bug and won't happen. The fix by Blitzkrieg80 will make it work again. RETROACTIVE.
The Seleukid reform has a bug and won't happen as often as it should. Fixed by me, reminded by burn_again to actually include it. Also added the reform building to Alexandreia-Ariana, fixed by burn_again. RETROACTIVE.
The Sweboz, Hayasdan and Qarthadast reforms had a bug causing them to potentially spawn its buildings many times. Fixed by Atilius. This is NOT retroactive. You will still get problems down the line in campaigns started without this fix. To save your ongoing campaign, you will have to do some juggling with the files (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=99619).
Atilius fixed the Sweboz triumph CTDs. RETROACTIVE.
Atilius fixed the Gaul-Epeiros alliance CTDs. RETROACTIVE.
Atilius fixed the CTD connected to the Yuezhi invasion. RETROACTIVE.
The fix will overwrite scripts/show_me/EBBS_SCRIPT.txt, you may want to make a backup of this first.
Download this file from the EB FTP (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/scriptfixes.zip).

Building fixes PROBABLY RETROACTIVE
Updated 2008-01-20
The Pahlava MIC5 has impossible requirements to build. This fix by JMRC will make it buildable, giving access to the grivpanvar (and possibly more).
The rebellion CTD that keeps haunting us may have been fixed. Makanyane came with crucial input to perhaps eliminate this bugger once and for all.
The fix will overwrite export_descr_buildings.txt, you may want to make a backup of this first.
Download this file from the EB FTP (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/rebellion.zip) or Rapidshare (http://rapidshare.com/files/85233673/rebellion.zip.html).
Unpack into <RTW directory>/EB/data.
Temporary fixes:
Oasis CTD (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1483285&postcount=13)
Updated 2007-10-21
Only some people are having problems with the oasis. If you find that this is the solution in your case, you should keep it installed. Otherwise, treat it as a temporary troubleshooting thing (you want the oasis, right?).
Make a backup by copying <RTW directory>/EB/data/descr_settlement_plan.txt to descr_settlement_plan.txt.original.
Download this file from the EB FTP (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/descr_settlement_plan.rar).
Store the archive inside <RTW directory>/EB/data.
Use the fix as needed:
Unpack descr_settlement_plan.rar. It will overwrite descr_settlement_plan.txt.
Run the game to get past the crash.
Restore the original plan file by copying descr_settlement_plan.txt.original to descr_settlement_plan.txt.
Trait file nerf
Updated 2007-10-21
Sometimes trait triggers make the game crash, in rare conditions. This file will disable all triggers so you can bypass these problems.
Make a backup by copying <RTW directory>/EB/data/export_descr_character_traits.txt to export_descr_character_traits.txt.original.
Download this file from the EB FTP (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/export_descr_character_traits.rar).
Store the archive inside <RTW directory>/EB/data.
Use the fix as needed:
Unpack export_descr_character_traits.rar. It will overwrite export_descr_character_traits.txt.
Run the game to get past the crash.
Restore the original trait file by copying export_descr_character_traits.txt.original to export_descr_character_traits.txt.
Optional changes:
And why are they optional and unsupported? Because they do not concern fatal bugs. You will be able to complete a game without them.
Client ruler increased sally movement NOT RETROACTIVE
Updated 2007-11-18: further decreased reduction of the penalty.
Sometimes the client rulers have a problem with sallying to repel a siege. This will reduce their movement penalty.
Make a backup by copying <RTW directory>/EB/data/export_descr_character_traits.txt to export_descr_character_traits.txt.original (or something else if it already exists).
Download this file from the EB FTP (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/sally.zip).
Unpack into <RTW directory>/EB/data.
Delete or rename <RTW directory>/EB/data/world/maps/base/map.rwm. It will be regenerated when you next start the game.
Apeleutheroi nerf RETROACTIVE
Updated 2007-10-24
Apeleutheroi were given a really high lethality, which does not combine very well with rebellion spawned gold chevrons. This will reduce their battle effectiveness considerably.
Make a backup by copying <RTW directory>/EB/data/export_descr_units.txt to export_descr_units.txt.original (or something else if it already exists).
Download this file from the EB FTP (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/apeleutheroi.zip).

Thank you Bovi! This should have a sticky, and 0.81 fixes should be taken off sticky to avoid confusion.
Yes, that's the idea. I'm just not a moderator :beam:.
Updated with a fix for the Oppida.
Are permanent fixes save compatable?
Installed the Client ruler increased sally movement patch in my existing Sweboz campaign and the lazy bastards wont move.
Also trying to change govt types from type 4 and even though have destroyed the old mic, the client ruler is loitering....do we have to assassinate them :)
The client rulers will be there, simmering with the rage of being dethroned.
About the sallying, then he probably has other movement killing traits. You can try to reduce the penalty further, now it's merely reduced from -20 to -15. Note that in winter he probably won't be able to sally.

bovi, this isn't about the fixes but it would probably make more sense if you changed the link in your signature about "Easier switching between SP and MP EDU" to:

One that should be added to the list is the sweboz reforms. The fix is simple and explained here:

How do I apply these fixes?
By following the instructions...? :inquisitive:
Updated with script fixes.
The file descr_disasters.txt that the first fix is supposed to overwrite is not in the EB\data folder (at least not in my clean EB install). I found one in EB\data\world\maps\base - is that the one I should back up?
That's right. I've updated it now :2thumbsup:.

So EB 1.1 is under way? When should that be - I just want to know because I have to plan my own mod for EB and that is more likely to be after 1.1 -- so, if you can evem PM me or something I would realy be happy. .. then I could plan how to study and when to gather my energy for modding EB
Does descr_disasters.txt fix affect existing savegames or only new games?
I believe it affects your current savegame, as long as you delete map.rwm. If a maxed disaster already has struck though, you could be screwed as it won't be retroactive.
Client ruler sally only works if you delete your Map file.
I didn't for about a week and played without my client rulers being able to sally........deleted my map file for another reason.....sallied with what I thought was a family member.........and the fix worked.
Just goes to show nothing is idiot proof :).......
Really? I thought trait effect changes didn't require that. Oh well, I've added the deletion to the instructions. Thanks!

I bet that was just a coincidence. If it is only a trait change, the map.rwm doesn't matter.
I am pretty sure the only change made was deleting the map a week after putting in all the hot fixes. In the intervening week.....no sally...since map regeneration.....sally ho!.

i wonder why the optional fixes are "not important and recommended or supported"?
my troops cant sally against a seige if a client ruler stay in that settlement, and it seems that the only way to break through the seige is to send another unit from other towns to attack the enemy and make the garrison as reinforcement.
besides, i think it's surely important to recruit elite troops of Pahlava though i didnt play that faction right now. i just wanna know why these seems so essential fixes are "optional"?
i'm a beginner here and really enjoy the great work of EB team, so pls tell me if my doubts are in a wrong way.

Hi,
I am trying to download the oppida.zip file from File front but it appears not to be there....can you post the file or another link to it, Please? Thanks.
You're right, it appears to be down. I'll see if I can reupload it now.
Now available again from Rapidshare.

you still need them to get the best out of the game though:beam:

I just want to add that map.rwm ISSue is not a prob at all If you play on Vista.. So we can say that me and all of those who had probs with map.rwm on WinXP can be sure not to have it on Vista!
What map.rwm issue are you talking about?
Maksimus
11-15-2007, 20:19
Well.. it is about MISSING MAP.RWM in my eb/data/world/maps/base on my Windows XP Sp2 that made my game CTD when you want to start a campaign..
...Remember - it is one of the issues you have sorted up in the list of known bugs and solutions..
Point is that WE - I mean Eb team and community never realy had a clear answer to why this was happening (why the game wont generate map.rwm on the start).. Well, I have some solution..
On Vista it works! No matter what.. Still It surely works on Alex.exe so..:juggle2:
I just felt I should say this because I was the first to seek help about it
:smash:
Actually there seems to be more instances of that problem for Vista users than XP users. It's something peculiar about their computers or whatever, that we've not figured out yet.
Probably your cracked Alex executable works better than the cracked RTW executable, which has been a recurring theme in many requests for help.
...Remember - it is one of the issues you have sorted up in the list of known bugs and solutions..
No it's not. It only concerns getting the game to run in the first place, IE the installation validation thread rather than this one. Any normal, clean installation appears to generate the file just fine.

Bovi,
as u might already know from my previous post in "A guide to install EB, screenshots provided (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1758573&postcount=128)" I am preparing to install EB 1.0 now (still uninstalling v 082, though, really really takes a long time).
I want to download all the permanent fixes while waiting for EB v 1.0 to be installed completely, just in case I have CTD later when I'm playing it. I have problem with the "oppida.rar" fix. I live in a dorm and my campus policy doesn't allow me to access rapidshare.com :furious3: or some other website like that. So I cannot download it. Could you please post the oppida fix somewhere else, in a website that can be accessed generally (It would be helpful if you can put all big size permanent fixes in EB FTP or Games.snt.utwente.nl , last night I downloaded EB v 1.0 from that link so it work for me).
Is that possible? :help:
Thx a lot Bovi!
The reason why I didn't put the oppida fix on the FTP was to save our bandwidth. I'll upload to a couple of other hosting services though, is there one in particular that you know works for you? I could temporarily host it on my own computer too. Either way, I won't do it until at least 9 hours.
The Utwente site is not controlled by us, it's just someone who approached us with an offer to host our mod for no compensation. I can't upload there.

Thx for the your response Bovi!
From the list of EB v1.0 download links displayed in europabarbarorum.com, only four that works for me, those of Games.snt.utwente.nl , File Shack , Org FTP , and Internode, althouh the Org FTP one seems to have the best download speed. Apart from them, I dont know any other places that I can suggest for you to put the file.
FYI I successfully installed EB a couple of hours ago and already give it a try for one hour. Really a GREAT mod... I'd like the new ocean very much. Now I have to resist myself coz I have a research paper for the day after tomorrow
Thx again and waiting for the oppida... :beam:
As downloading from my own computer didn't work, I'm uploading it temporarily to the EB FTP. It's going at a mindboggling 10KB/s, so will probably take at least an hour from now to be up. The link will be ftp://europabarbarorum.org/oppida.zip.

I have a problem it my client ruler´s, have put the fix and delete the rwm map
as gone well. After i have star the game then next day the clients rules have came back to the old -100% movent, must i delete the map every time.
They are supposed to have -100% movement. Only when under siege should they be able to react.
but before i have closed the game just after it delete the rwm.map i have too general unit in my army, and they can move well, i have got the too general after a have replace the government building, they are able to move, but if put in a cite it 4 level they lose the movent, and if i replace the 4 level they can´t move.
Again, they are not supposed to be able to move. At all. Unfortunately this means that they cannot sally in sieges, so we have to lessen the penalty at the time to allow for that. They still should not move out of the city, just repel the besieger, so if you do move them out you are cheating by exploiting this weakness. The code is meant to take away the movement of all client rulers that are not under siege, and this is what it does when you put them back in a gov4 city.
Sorry Bovi planning it Baktria i have taken control of Nisa, in the cite there are too general and one family member, and the cite a just bin besieges by the Pahlava, my family member cant move to face the enemy troops, the gov is tipe 4, i now the client ruler can“t move but the famely member is also effect by -100% if the cite is under the control of client ruler.
Now I understand what you're saying, I think. Could you make a new thread and post the savegame?
Bovi i have send a family member to free Nisa after the battle, my family member in Nisa as get the movent again.

Guys, have been trying to access the eb.ftb for 2 days now and it won't load. Is it experiencing problems or is it something firewall side on my PC?
P.S. to whoever designed the appeleutheroi (sp) :furious3:
A 3 hour battle against rome, wiped out several thousand of the best they had. The peasant scum attacked and to drive 'em off tried used helenic heavy spearmen. Lost an entire squad in 15 seconds for no kills. Quit the battle in disgust. Either have to use some sort of cheat to kill everything i'm fighting or get those peasants off the field.

About the temporary trait-file nerf... I copied it before saving the original. Is there any chance you could post the normal unedited file, so after I get past my crash I could download that and re-install it? I'm sure there are others like me. And for that matter, you could upload the other unedited files for the other temp fixes too. Thanks! You guys do a great job!

Just use 7zip to extract it from your installer.
Alternatively, you can download the optional sally movement EDCT.

I was wondering if you or anyone else here knew why the PeopleUnhappy trait is triggered by actually having a Mars worshipper at a settlement with a Mars temple, but the Baktrian sections use the And Not SettlementBuildingExist code. It seems it would make sense to have all the Roman and other temple codes use the Not settlement building exist code to trigger peopleunhappy.
Btw, could someone tell me the name of the freed slaves unit so that I can search for it in the EDU? I can't localize that unit. Basically I want a string of text that will take me directly to the unit section.

Admetos, could you explain a little bit more? None of my traits work now after copying the trait fix (all spies say "none" in traits, etc), and I forgot to save the original trait file. Is there a way to download the original file somewhere without re-installing the whole game?
Just right click on your installer and select 7zip --> Open archive. That way you can choose the exact files you want to extract. So, really, you'll never need to make EB back-ups ever again! Unless, of course, you've modified the files you're copying over.
Lol, that coming from someone who has a completly clean version of EB just as a back-up. :laugh4:

I don't know, but it does seem odd. I'll ask about it in EBH.
The freed slaves are generic militia in EDU.

Changing the number of traits is savegame incompatible, so if you've added or removed stuff and now try to use the original they'll be all jumbled up. The way to restore using 7-zip is to start the program, then navigate to the EB installer and open the archive using it. Finally, navigate to EB/data and drag export_descr_character_traits.txt to EB/data in your EB installation.

I followed Admetos' description, and it didn't really work- all my spies and new family members still all have "none" for traits.
Wait- so do I start up the game, load up my saved game, and then copy the original trait file over the other one? Is that how to make it work? Or are you saying once you save the game with the trait fix, you can never again have traits?
Ymarsakar

Is the original trait file you are copying over really the original? Any changes to the trait file must be made before you start up the game. Even if you save the game with a nerfed save file, it shouldn't prevent you from exiting out the game and replacing the trait file with the original multiple meg version.
Fixed the (many!) unhappiness triggers concerning temples. Thank you for reporting, Ymarsakar :2thumbsup:.

What is the code for Pahlava MIC 5 building in EDB file?
I've installed the TWFanatic's First Cohort mod with some other minor changes and I'm pretty sure that overwriting it with the corrected EDB would not be save-game compatible at all... yet I'd like to have Pahlava able to recruit their best troops.
What should I look for in EDB file to be replaced with appropriate corrected part of the EDB file?

That's hardly a critical fix, I don't care to port it to 1.0. It will come in the next release.

The problem is that I've installed TWFanatic's "First Cohort Mod"... and then some other mini-mod adding something to EDB... when I compared Parthian MIC 5s - I believe Parthia (Pahlava) has royal_barracks_C1 (for native troops) and royal_barracks_W1 (for regional troops) in the file I use and the corrected EB 1.0 file - they looked the same for me (in terms of being the top level of MICs and requirements) and contain the following code:
royal_barracks_C1 requires factions { parthia, } and building_present_min_level minimumbuilding reformedpastoralism and building_present_min_level government govparthian and not hidden_resource not_here
EDB Line 11548:
royal_barracks_C1 requires factions { parthia, } and building_present_min_level government gov1 and building_present_min_level minimumbuilding reformedpastoralism and building_present_min_level government govparthian and not hidden_resource not_here
Changed to
royal_barracks_C1 requires factions { parthia, } and building_present_min_level minimumbuilding reformedpastoralism and building_present_min_level government govparthian and not hidden_resource not_here
Seems you already have it :beam:

OK. Thanks, bovi!
Seems that someone - one of the mod authors - has already included that fix to his mod (suppose that was MiniMe), which I also have present... :D
EDIT:
questions asked here moved to my post in "nuisances"
Perhaps you would like to post these questions somewhere else.

dumb question- are all the permanent fixes save-game compatible?
Yes they are. But some are not retroactive, IE if you're a victim of the disaster bug your campaign is still screwed.
:help: Help!!!!! The Building fix' (rebellion.zip) link doesn't work!!!!
It does for me. I remember at some point europabarbarorum was blacklisted by some program as a P2P poisoner or something ridiculous like that, perhaps you have blocked communication with it?
Don't think 'cause I downloaded the others one months ago...
Can you send me the file.zip if I leave you my e-mail address?
Nothing?...Thanks the same...and congratulations, the mod is the best I played until now.
You're quick . I put it up after posting the previous post.

# Building fixes
* Updated 2008-01-20
* The Pahlava MIC5 has impossible requirements to build. This fix by JMRC will make it buildable, giving access to the grivpanvar (and possibly more).
* The rebellion CTD that keeps haunting us may have been fixed. Makanyane came with crucial input to perhaps eliminate this bugger once and for all.
* The fix will overwrite export_descr_buildings.txt, you may want to make a backup of this first.
* Download this file from the EB FTP or Rapidshare.
* Unpack into <RTW directory>/EB/data.
After i installed it and tried to play EB the game crashed and i got this message........

Any help on how to fix this would be much appreciated.
Perhaps you have an unofficial mod installed, whose EDB you just overwrote? I know I tested to run the game, start a campaign, see that the apeleutheroi were recruitable, and quit. Also, I have made no change to any line concerning the cavalry.

Yes,i had the First Cohorts mod installed.Should i download that again?Would that fix this?Or should i delete that entry you pasted?Im also using BI....could that be causing a problem?
You should put back the backup you made, and then apply the changes that this fix does to that mod's EDB. I'll put up the changes in question shortly.

Add bolded lines at the indicated line (may change in your particular file as you add lines!), remove red text.
This may be a stupid question, but are the permanent fixes for the game in general, and not only for those who have experienced special problems?

Bovi, how can I find the specified lines of code in .txt file?
And to what building do they refer to?
I can find "royal_barracks_C1", but I can't find anything that has no name but some "capabilities", which are some hundreds of in EDB file...
The line number is listed right above each entry...? :inquisitive: Any decent text editor has a function for going to a given line, most by pressing Ctrl-G. Also you can diff the file against a clean 1.0 one (I did so to create this overview), or search for the diplomat capability. Many roads leading to Rome :clown:.
Additions concern the government precursor complex.

The problem is that the Notepad has NOT the option of "Ctrl+G", and when using MS Office 2007 I can't open the EDB file - it just hungs up and seems to have crashed...
EDIT:
deleted the part of this post that could be found as offensive by other Forum-users. Sorry about that, but struggling against MS-products at midnight after some 6 hours of sleep during past 48 hours is not the best way to get things around
@Mouzaphaerre:
Thanks! Just forgot about that option in Notepad... :(
@bovi:
Sorry.
Sometimes the simplest solutions are those hardest to find.
My problem is fixed - and now I can mod on :)
BTW: I know that EB team does NOT support any unofficial mods - and no problem abbout that; I can import appropriate code in modded file, I only need to know what does the change/bugfix refer to. So far all my changed files worked quite nice, as I always tried to be careful (and backupped) in making changes.
Anyway, thanks for fixing bugs - I'll try to implement them as only they're released.
BTW2: why there are NO in EB higher levels of blacksmiths (Armourer and Foundry) and Epic Stone Walls?
I know how to make them appear and made them available in my version of modded EB, I'm just curious why there's no such buildings in EB.
Sorry for being not too polite last night, guys.
Get Notepad++. It's free. Or try Textpad or UltraEdit, the latter is my favourite text editor.

.
The problem is that the Notepad has NOT the option of "Ctrl+G"
It does. Uncheck Format > Word Wrap and enable View > Status Bar. Then you have your line and coloumn numbers at the status bar and can use Ctrl + G or Edit > Go To...
.
Microsoft software works in mysterious ways. Try some of my suggestions. If you don't care to apply the fix, when I have given you many different ways to find the lines in question, and in addition use profanity, I don't care to help anymore. We don't support unofficial mods anyway.

@bovi:
Once again my apologies.
Just was too mindstuck to try the solution Mouzaphaerre gave me "on the silver plate".
I'll try not to be so profanous anymore - if I'll be, just hit my head with something hard like Monty Pythons famous "12 tons".
And yes, MS products sometimes (and IMHO all too often) work in VERY mysterious ways...
And, as I found, the added lines that allow to recruit "generic militia" [Apeleutheroi, I suppose?] refer to "building hinterland_precursor" and its levels - "levels precursor_feeder outlying expansion homeland hinterland_victory"
I only wonder, what CTD and when was caused due to lack of these lines? I've never had anything like that... but - maybe someone had?
It concerns rebellions. If there are no units available to recruit for the faction a settlement rebels to, the game will crash. These additions are because in some rare cases the core building (governor palace) is damaged from a disaster or in the revolt itself, precluding the apeleutheroi that usually will fill a blank. The precursors are hinterland, meaning indestructible, so this will hopefully end our problems with rebellions.
Darth Stalin
01-24-2008, 18:41
OK, now I see.
I've seen at least 2 times in my current Romani campaign that governor palace has been damaged due to various reasons - and yes, that may be the problem.

AGGH! Are all these hotfixes packaged in one somewhere?

Unfortunately not.
Are there any plans to do so, perhaps a 1.05 before 1.1 comes out?
No. It's a hassle to update when new fixes are discovered.

My advice have some rest   before you install these and read everything very very very carefullyAhhh, well "rest" is of course a tempting thing -- when the chapter is revised and emailed off to my professor!
As to the "fixes," I guess the problem is, "I" was looking for something clearly labeled as "Rebellion Fix," not least as somewhere else in this lengthy thread its referred to (if I was seeing the right reference) to "rebellion.ftp."
Something "buried" under "Building fixes" that starts out talking about "The Pahlava MIC5..." went completely under my radar, as it were. :wall:
I am indebted to you, and I shall take steps to install this fix asap. :beam:
Cheers! :book:
Dear all,
First let me say 3 things:
- I am having (or rather, was) having great fun playing as Baktria (I just love the units of Baktria, strong archers cav with Hellenes inf and Persians archers!) with EB. I discovered EB (well, started to play it rather) a month ago, and it is just GREAT.
- I may well be one of the persons least able to use a computer I know!
- I am not an English speaker.
This said, I would really appreciate if somebody could hlp me. I am having a CTD (during the Roman AI turn, or at least during the AI turn, when I see the shield) and I ould like to use the fixes.
But I can't seem to connect to the EB ftp indicated (at least it says each time "Internet Explorer ne peut pas afficher cette page Web") whilst the RapidFrire adress works. And anyway, I don't understand whether I should install permanent or all fixes.
Thank you,
FFJean

This is not likely your fault; since the EB Server is down. This means that we are waiting for one of the server admins to restart the services; and until then the fixes cannot be downloaded from the FTP.
However some of them appear to have been uploaded elsewhere too, so you may want to try those locations first as it is not known when the site & server will be up again yet. Sorry for the inconvenience,
Thank you for the feedback. DO you know where these fixes are still available? Any problem with EB directly?
And on another side of my question, which of these fixes "should" I install and which "could" I install? (meaning, which are bug fixes needed, and which are just "nice to have" changes?).
Thank you again, and best regards,
FFJean
The EB server is back online so you can download the fixes from the links given in the first post. The fixes you should download are the permanent ones, while the optional ones are, well, optional. I would strongly recommend to install the apeleutheroi nerf though, because those overpowered slaves are very annoying. The temporary ones are only for when you encounter an unavoidable CTD (and you should always replace them with the original files as soon as you have bypassed the crash).
Hey, why aren't the patches at the "download patches" section?
Seems quite an appropriate place to put them. :whip:
Did I mention yours is the most incredibly superperfect mod ever?
Thanks guys!!!! :2thumbsup:

Bovi, sorry if i broke the b...s everytime, but for me the EB FTP doesn't work...can you post another link for the last "script fix"? Thank you together...bye and good work...Vincent.:juggle2:
Sorry, can't do that from here. The problem definitely seems to be on your end. Can you try to use a proxy (http://www.proxyftp.com/ftptool.php)?
Don't worry...I solved it, but now I've a question for you...If I istall a not official mod as "First Cohort" for example and after the BUG FIXES, will them work without problems? :inquisitive:

sorry, please delete this somebody, I will post the question in separate thread
delete your map.rmw file first for the change to take effect (i think)
mine is here....
C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\EB\Data\world\maps\base
it regenerates if not there on start up
Don't worry...I solved it, but now I've a question for you...If I istall a not official mod as "First Cohort" for example and after the BUG FIXES, will them work without problems? :inquisitive:
That depends entirely on the mod in question. Some of them include the fixes (:2thumbsup:) and some of them don't affect the same files (:2thumbsup:), but some of them overwrite the fixed files as they are not updated after the fixes were discovered. You'd have to merge the changes in the fixes into these to get their effects :sweatdrop:.
Revenant, several of the fixes are not retroactive, but require a new campaign for their full effect.

But I am using it since beginning:dizzy2:
I even started another campaign just to test it and it is not working there too.
Oh, that's odd. My disc stopped working so I can't test it myself, I'm afraid.

Welcome here, man, but one advice: They do not like questions like this on this forum and you can expect some very rude replies. The usual answer is it will be released when it will be done and certainly before EB 2.0.
Hello guys, thx for the amazing mod, i've wanted it for ages but my rome cd got stolen. Anyway when I download the fixes from EB ftp using bitcomet nothing happens whereas when i dowload f.e. oppida from rapid share i get 'archive has unknown format or is damaged' when unpacking it with winrar. I hope someone can help me?
Thx alot

You could have an old version of Winrar installed? I know, I once ran into that lovely problem. You can also use 7-zip to deal with .rar files. Plus as an added bonus it is free.
When that is not the case, it seems the download somehow was corrupted. Simple solution is to try again.
Thx for the hint, but 7-zip didn't work ( no archives found )

The oppidia fix probably didn't completely download or became corrupted. Have you tried deleting it and redownloading?
Yep several times, I do use the free rapid share option, but the ftp files won't dowload either (even with firewall off). But i am using freezone maybe that's the prob? I'll ask a friend to try and download the fixes 'cause the mod looks awesome. But if you guys would permit me, I do have to agree with some of the posters here: put the fixes in the v 1.0 or in one big patch, it's a real bummer to not be able to enjoy your amazing work to the fullest.
But I'll stop nagging for now
Creating and uploading an installer means days of work. Creating and updating an archive of fixes means hours of work combined. I'm spending neither.
I got it: don't use bitcomet.
@ Bovi: sorry i didn't realise it was that much work. Guess that's whats keeping the kingdoms patch :beam: . I'll stop bitching about both now
