Hello all... i start a new campaign with KH ..i have never try this ...but it seems unplayable!!
First turn Make have a big stack of troops near Atenai... and in the follow 3 turns they have so too much troops that the only city for me is Cipro!!!
To strong this Make???
or to weak KH??
Thank you

You either have to hope the Maks don't attack Athens, they themselves have an Epirote stack sitting outside Pella led by Phyrros and containing Elephants, or accept that you're going to lose Athens and re-build from Sparta and Rhodes. :2thumbsup:
KH are indeed playable. Some say they are overpowered. But they are pretty intense at the start; if you want a gentler introduction to EB, try Rome or Carthie.
I think they are one of the easier faction that are in the game. If you find them hard don't try Nomad factions.
Disbanding my fleet, building a Peltast in Sparte and going all out for Korinthos has always worked for me.
In my campaigns, the Mak stack next to Athens has always gone north, but even if I lost Athens, the KH economy is solid enough to fund an army to take it back.
... or accept that you're going to lose Athens and re-build from Sparta and Rhodes. :2thumbsup:
not to mention that in EB 1.0 if you lose Athens you re-build from Sparta and Rhodes and Krete since you have a solid expedition force deployed there right from the start.
Some say they are overpowered.
There was a dispute on KH unit roster not so long ago but that was before 1.0.
Now, with their new cheap longpike phalanx that have one of the widest areas of recruitment, their overpower-edness is undisputable =)

The only problem is that Pyrrhus loves to stand around birdwatching in the mountains for years on end.
I noticed that in my Mak campaign, he sieged eventually though and his army got completely obliterated. :laugh4:

Actually, KH looks a lot harder than it really is. Your first task is to bring Areus back from Krete and concentrate all the forces you possibly can on Korinthos. Frequently Antigonos will head North and only leave a small portion of his army. They'll attack you; make sure you win outside Korinthos (and you really can win, and quite spectacularly too). Then move on to Chalkis quickly, which frankly won't be too hard to take. By now Makedonia might be sending more troops against you, but I found in my KH campagin that they just sat outside Pella and did nothing. Once you're strong enough to go after Demetrias, then do that. After that, you'll be unstoppable.

I played it the hard way and took Krete. It didn't make much of a difference. I took Korinth and took Demetros. Then I decided to quit since they are indeed uberpowered if they get some $$$.
The Maks besiege Athens only about 50% of the time. They either wander north to scare away Epeiros or go north and then try to take Athens after a few turns. However, don't be too afraid if they do besiege. It is indeed quite winnable if they decide to assault. If you can hold them on the walls, then at some point the AI will break through the gates and if you can stop them there then they just get oiled to death. Also, don't forget your almost invicible general's bodyguards.
Even though I quit, my next move is to usually take Ambraka for its Tier 3/4 barracks. At this point, its almost no contest unless the enemy is running around with massive armies.

They were very overpowered in .8x IMO. With the new garrison scripts, they probably have a much harder time.
Throw in the 2400 for bodyguard upkeep, something unique to KH (except for Xanthippus of Qarthadastim), and it also makes them more challenging.
They should be one of the hardest factions in the game IMO, and it looks like they're definitely headed in the right direction.

In my KH campaign I abandoned every city but Rhodes *I cant get it to rebel and no one will take it as a gift* and took my army to crimea. I wish I had makedonian stacks rather then these horse archers, even spartans dont stand a chance against 200 arrows to the back.

I think is not so easy to play...
In previous versions i think it was more easier...
I am in winter of 260 and i didn't take Demetrias yet...
In the first turns i lost Athens from Maks and Rhodos from myself.
In Sparte and Korinthos i have negative profits and only Athens and Chalkis have positive.
I lost a battle near Korinthos, but the truth is that after some years the Antigonos have his eye only in Pyrros..
The strange is the econimical crisis that i have...
Very strange for the KH campaign..
Take krete is my advice, use your spy and maby you can take the city on the start turn. It is easy to take macedonian citys whit just your spartan bodyguards (and krete).
(send them in whit guard mode)
(take the gate then rest under cover of a building)
(countinue to advance whit guard mode and rest before the city square)
(by now you lost maby 50% of your generals bodyguard but they usaly only have levy hoplite left in the square... here its wise to disable guard mode after the charge)
So its fairly easy whit city fights for spartans, learn to master guard mode and rest them to ready whenever you have the chance and you win over forces that coud be 5-8 bigger then the spartan unit.
This way you also save the rest of your army but risk loseing your general though, anyway that army is exellent to use as garrison for that city. Just dont forget to bring a large stack to sige the citys or the enemy will attack you out in the opend where you lose your advantage.
Avoid open battles whit the KH in the beginning, the macedons allways attack your citys after a short siege whit larg stocks, only in citys can your levy hoplite win over a large superior force.
If you wisht to sweep the macedonians of the map quickly, just gather all your generals in one huge stack whit any other units you have and blitz thier citys.
Last but not lest in the first turn, dont disband any units, upgrade the ones you have in athen and for the rest of the money start reqruite levy hoplites there.
The trick is relly blitz and bold attack on the KH side and once you taken the two first macedonian citys you have the clear advantage. :juggle2:

Forget Athens Make them rebel if you want.. That will keep the maks busy.
Even try taking out all your army and destroy most building in Athens if you want.
Take Krete and combine all available army then move your way up north.

The new training u can give your generals makes them way cool, big if is if the big mac stack attacks u first turns or retreats back to defend against the dog people, out of the 4 times I have played kh,never been able to get rhodes to make a profit, whats with that?..isn't it like one of the trading capitals?

Stop looking at the numbers, RTW uses a ridiculous system to calculate a city's "profits". Open up the details in the city and check out the money it brings in, that's what matters.
