Apparently not many people look at the EB2 Forum, so ill post this here as well. A russian (i think) called Niko aka Niko_TWOW.RU has discovered a way to make amazing animations in MTW2. And was wondering if u guys will use these types of animations on ur EB2 mod (possibly figure out a way to make ur own, but Niko isnt telling how to do these yet):

Real Arrow :

Real Cavalry Attack:

The forum where all of these are in (their all spread around, in diferent pages, since his showing what he will work on after his "Commander" mod is finished):

The videos are rapidshare links, the files arent really big (not more than 5mb) so the wait time isnt long, and its worth it. These videos made me drool, just shows how lazy CA is lol. I know this may not be the right forum to post this, but since this forum gets the most traffic, i tought id post it here to.

The stringing of the bow is a very nice touch. I wonder why CA never added those, even in MTW2.

Uh, this was already answered in the EB II forum, we will NOT be adding any sorts of decapitations in EB at all.. way too hollywood. Other anims are cool, but probably cause errors with the attackers and other units nearby. Basically, we will be making our own animations for EB II.

I don't care what you say though. That head coming off is a beautiful piece of modding work .

Oh and Zak the Roman/western spy pic suited you much better .

I know it seems way to hollywood, but it is realistic is it not? U guys could do this types of finishing moves animations to be like a 5% chance that a unit will do it (unless that type of stuff is hardcoded), or did no one actually cut a head off/arm/leg in a war at that time? did they always lunged their swords in the opponents stomach to finish him off? u guys could even modify the way they do it.

+, this are just examples of what can be done in MTW2, Niko is practically the only one doing these types of animations. Not only that, he also improved the AI of the cavalry in some way, as it shows in the Real Cavalry Attacks, and all of that is work in progress, there's still many things to be fixed.

i imagine there will be plenty of EB animations that our great artists come up with (namely Alin when he gets time). So we might see some cool stuff for EB II. And decapitations of any sort (legs, arms, heads) did happen, but they were rare enough not to include in EB.

oh, i think the dismemberment woiuld only be good for one weapon: the falx and the rhomphaia. these weapons were feared so much because of the fact that, even a glancing blow, your gonna lose a limb most likely. the recovery rate from falx and rhomphaia wounds was almost none, because most direct hits were dismembering, even through the leather pterges. but, arm dismemberment would be most common IMHO.

maybe have the death anim of the falxman hooking the shield and wrenching it away, then a quick cut severing the swordarm, or even shieldarm. and another that cuts across thwe shoulders, no dismemberment. and more... i can think of more, but you get the idea

Wouldn't the Liguarian two handers or the Casse sword masters be able to do a beheading ?

Is it possible to assign beheading's to a specific weapon only or would it be across the board ?

Id suggest u go to his forum (link is on the first post). He might have answer to it, since its just a work in progress. Also, if u guys dont know yet, in the Real Arrow mod, he also made that the arrow doesnt disappear, that it stays were it landed (including walls):

That is a good idea though, if it is possible to assign diferent types of finishing moves to different weapons; it would look more realistic and a lot of variety, but i am wondering if this would affect the perfomance of the computer since there would be a lot more action goin on.

This one is actually pretty cool along with them arming the bow. Think of the Roman testudos filled completely covered in arrows as they battle in Syria and beyond!
