the advice is "hold on, stand firm, patch is comming......"

--------------------------------
our Khan is pissed tho...

Its sad of fighting all those online bugs, on some nights resulting in just 1 game in every 2-3 hours.

first the bug when u logon, 10% chance the system locks up
this percentage will also apply if u relog to solve the scroll stuck bug OR u cant select a friend who si online but not in your playerlist OR friends hosting a game but it is not appearing for u....

but if u manage to get online u might get outbugged when:
hosting a game, teh game might lock up
joining a game, idem dito
starting teh game, some may drop and u never return to the foyer
ending a game, system locks up

a fair chance of a lock up of 15%

every lock up means restarting pc, waiting for scandisk and relog again....

and being back in teh foyer ur timewarped to a different list of friends and teh circle starts over again.

our Khan is highly stressed by these time wasting/consuming actions and will direct more energy elsewhere than the online battles. after all teh average skill is depressing him as well.

ps info about machine and all are not listed cuz many are sure that aint teh problem here.

Corrections:

*On Join Game, Create Game, or Log Out, it's not a lock-up bug, it's a crash-to-desktop bug.

*And you forgot that on game load sometimes you get a "black screen of death" where it just has the popup with everyone 100% loaded and we can chat but the map never actually appears, although we can see weather effects over the blackness.

*And you can disable scandisk from running every time you restart without a proper shutdown.

*Most game lockup bugs can be fixed with proper driver setups. If you're running an AMD chip and a VIA-based motherboard, download the latest 4in1s. That solved the lockup bug for me, and installing the latest VIA 4in1 drivers has ALWAYS solved game lockup bugs throughout the three years I've been running AMD chips.

*Also, the crash-to-desktop bug is so frequent and frustrating it can be even LESS than 1 game per 2-3 hours. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

As for average player skill, your Khan will stay depressed for sometime.

I still suggest the best way to ensure a high level of play is to use a custom map. Only experienced players will mess around with downloading and installing a custom map.

i forgot teh crash to desktop, but we were never been able to launch teh game well after it directly. and the pc wouldnt shut off either so a hard restart is needed anyway.

Strange...

I was online for about three hours, playing three VERY good battles against Shadewolf in a row. No problems then, and there was a lot of people online.

And the times before I have yet to experience anything either, but granted I'm not online that much, so perhaps I have just been lucky.
