View Full Version : You can't choose weather and that is driving me nuts!!!

It rains and becomes foggy every once in a while and then starts to lag because of this. I really can't believe weather option is cut off.

This is enough reason to give up playing. Release a game with lag problem, and then do not let people select weather where rain and fog makes lag %100 worse! Force them to have that randomly. Was it really that difficult to add it there with 1.3? Was it? I bet it was. And I mean it. I am sure their brilliant coders have some "logical" explanations for this. After all tw is rocket science. Well, if only they could manage that.

When people hate CA they do have some valid reasons. They really have.

...

Mordred had told me that it was because of maps. He said some maps have it and some don't. Is there a flat map with weather option enabled?

Hi Kyolic

There is a way that you can choose the weather conditions that you want to play in.

It involves downloading and installing the ...Horsemen Map Pack v 1.0 (some good maps there too)
Weather options are...Clear...Raining...Thunder Storm...Light Fog...Heavy Fog.

The one good advantage...only the Host needs the maps installed. Other players do not need them installed to be able to join the game but can do so if they wish.

I have them installed and have used many of them.

Thanks Jochi it worked. There is one flat map in the pack and weather is selectable with it.

Are there any more flat maps around with selectable weather?

Wassup Krook? How is it going?

If you have Kingdoms, there are at least 5 data files. One for the main 1.3 game, and one each for each of the Kingdoms games (in mods file).

Sega/Medieval II Total War/data

Sega/Medieval II Total War/mods/
americas/data
british_isles/data
crusades/data
teutonic/data

If you want to use the Horsemen Map Pack in a game, the files must be extracted to each data location you wish to use.

Note: The easiest way to do it is to extract the files to your desktop, then copy them to all of the data file locations.

Then you will have to modify the desktop icon link to the particular game you wish to play with the Map Pack.

This involves changing the Properties Target by adding:

(a space and)--io.file_first to the Target:

For example to add the Map Pack to the Teutonic game:

1. Right click on program icon.

2. Select Properties.

3. Change:

"C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\kingdoms.exe" --features.mod=mods/teutonic

To:
"C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\kingdoms.exe" --features.mod=mods/teutonic --io.file_first

4. Select Apply.

Changing the 1.3 version may require more alteration, as the launcher may need to be discarded. I have not done this yet but think if you want to, it would go something like this:

From:
"C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Launcher.exe"

To:
"C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\medieval2.exe" --io.file_first

Will have to try it?

But above is enough to play the Teutonic game with the Map Pack.

P.S. Only the host has to have the Map Pack, but to practice in custom battles, of course you will have to have it too.

Edit: Added the correct To: location for 1.3.

My apologies!

Problems, problems.

Map Pack incompatibilities have been found with the Teutonic, Britannia, and Americas mods.

Obviously this Pack was made for 1.3, and the Crusades mod contains some of the main programs maps fetchers, so they work.

Only some of the maps work with the other mods, and sometimes return some odd map characteristics.

All in all to much trouble for Kingdoms I am afraid. Each mod would require its own specialized map pack.

Sorry :shame:
