View Full Version : Who sabotaged my triremes?
Hi
First of all: 1.0 is fantastic! It's such an improvement over 0.81, great work EB team!
Now to the business at hand: My two trireme fleets are the lifeline of my ongoing Romani attempt to liberate the Iberian peninsula from itself. But for some reason their speed seems to have halved. Permanently. I'm not talking about the winter turns being slower, all turns are slower. And yes, the script has been activated.
What gives? It's almost like they're stuck on winter speed. Has anyone else experienced this? And is there anything, I can do?
The only possible explanation I can think of is, that my two admirals died. But there's nothing extraordinary about their replacements. They're just run-of-the-mill typically, salty sailors.

Admirals gain traits which allow for greater range. The new admirals don't appear to be anywhere near as good as the old ones.
Sounds like you have a rather interesting and unexpected strategic problem to deal with. ~:)

Try this - when you click on the ship on the strategy map (to select the fleet), then select the ships in task-bar at the bottom.
This always improves their range.
It's most noticeable if you sail a ship a short distance, beach it, and have an army board it - somehow over half your remaining movement would disapear.
If you then select the ships individually, it's extended again.
And I have no idea why.

AFAIK when you put an army on a fleet that army's own movement allowance affects the fleet its boarded.
I quite often get it where I'll sail my ships to the end of their allowance, and then it tops up and lets me go several tiles further. I don't think this is confined to navies though, I've had it with agents and land forces too (I would say forced marching traits but on navies and agents? hmm...:inquisitive:)

Is there any general in your fleet
Is there any general in your fleet
Nope, the fleet is empty. But I really, really, really need it to save my 3 kohortes of Pedites Extraordinarii from destruction at the hands of misguided Iberians. :skull:
Thanks for the suggestions and replies. I somehow doubt that it is because of inexperienced admirals, since the range is very short. But maybe the problem will disappear when I start the game again.

other question, if you play h/m gain the comp admirals their extra command stars too like at land? its not displayed but my gold chevron roman fleet with a legendary admiral suffers one defeat after next v. same carthago fleet that is fresh build and with unexperienced admiral..i would say nothing if it were 1x but it happens battel after battle for many years until i have had enough of this cheating ai and start auto_win sea battles as they always calculated.
eb is a great mod but i have learn 1 thing...i never more have buy 1 CA game from rtw start until today and will never do it in future as they absolutly incompetent in ai question...their ai cheat or acts stupid like in games 20 years ago, good grafic is nothing after few hours you have seen enough and stupid ai ruins the whole game.

Just one question, what ships was your admiral commanding and what was the Carthaginian one comanding?
A reload resolved the issue. Now the lifeline to Roma is back and Iberia will very soon enjoy the wonders and benefits of being taxed by the S.P.Q.R.
