View Full Version : Spontaneous Mongol Conversion

Anybody seen this (had to be the weirdest thing yet). It has to be some very strange kind of bug (or feature).

First, some background information. I'm still trying to win as the Turks on 'normal' and with the help of some nice folks here-- I'm almost playing a respectable game.

So the Mongol invasion occurs and I just happened to assassinate the Khan in a previous game so I tried it again, here. With a level four assassin and a couple of threes I got him! So the Golden Horde is now just a bunch of very, very scary rebels. Then the Horde re-spawns, er, re-emerges in the exact same province, and the old horde kills the new horde.

That was weird-- but wait. There's more. About thirty years later, thing are getting tense. The Byzantines are still around but they are getting pounded by the Almohads, and I'm at war with them both. That province with all the ronin Mongols is just sitting there, between me and the Byzants, and it's been so long that I forgot what was in there and tried to attack it-- then I quickly changed my mind when I realized what a hornet's nest I was getting into.

Now the weird part. Several turns later, I see that the rebel/ex-Mongol province IS NOW MY TERRITORY. Nahh... I look at the armies and they are-- sure enough-- the Mongols-- with heavy cav and everything, about three full stacks. Now, for no reason that I can see, they are Turks. Seriously.

So, uh, I don't know what I did or if I did anything to cause this -- but I'm planning on sending those boys to Castile to lynch that Elmohead S.O.B.

Anyone have any idea why this occurred????

the only reason i can think of for this happening is one tiny little reference i saw once on the history channel or PBS about the mongols invading that region and conquering it, but no more than about 10 years later they had all simply absorbed themselves into the original culture and the 'mongol horde' was no more. perhaps the game is simulating that? dunno.

then again, maybe it's just a bug :)

rebels can, and will, join your empire.

They can??? I'm yet to see this happen. Do they at least ask permission to join my club?

Can they !?!?!? well in that case i would like to know what criteria they use ?? As my last game i played GA, building keeping peace, and taking out heirs (of the biggest/nastiest players) so their area turns to rebel. Now around 1350 or so i had like 25% of the map as rebels, and even though i played the good guy (low taxes, building all i could), i never ever saw one of those rebels join me..

So if anyone can confirm this and by what criteria http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif...?

First, by Mongol Invasion, does that mean that they took the province in question from you?

Nothing weired about it! Have you read the manual and/or this forum?? Have you done a search of the forum for info on this topic? It would appear not.

So, you assinated the Khan, and just like its stated in the Manual and in this forum a "Civil War" broke out!!! One side manages to win. Nexxxtttt....

Finally, I grant you this sounds strange. Question, do you have any "Auto" features turned on? I don't use any myself, so just speculating, maybe your emissary "auto" bribed them. How's your treasury? Keeping track to notice any big outlay of cash?

The last thought, pertains to my very first question, if this were your province that had been invaded by the Mongols, then perhaps the Turks rebelled. Seems quite likely in the case of Civil War between the Mongols.

The above scenario might be possible with "auto" features???

ltj, I don't recall reading info on this, do you have a reference. If so, then I guess that explains the last part.

Here is a screenshot of the bizarre situation. I was afraid that I had imagined it all (late last night). I did not have any "auto anything" going, so that can't explain it. If it's a feature IT'S PRETTY COOL!
