I've heard that the seleucid chariots had 4 horses... like this:

From what I recall out of a discussion about some Chinese mod a while back, that is painfully difficult to mod...it would be damn sweet, but I don't honestly think it'll happen if it hasn't already.

Fourth Age:Total war managed to make chariots with 4 horses,as Pharnakes says.I haven't played the mod though.

Neo Assyrians used a four horse chariot? 4th century Persians, Carthage for racing four horse? However, large steppe horse breeds and the horse archer in greater asia, had made the chariot a bit hoary, no?

I am no expert on chariots, but shouldn't the horses be positioned like this?:

So that the last two horses would be straight behind the first two? Otherwise the chariot would be quite... unwieldy

4 horse chariots we know had 4 horses in the line, not in pairs like artillery train from napoleonic wars (like you suggest Blank). So this image is OK.

And yes, that made chariots unwieldy! That's why armies were able to open ranks to allow chariots to pass through, like Alex at Gaugamella.
