Playing Epirus, VH/VH, EB 1.0, BI.exe, Force Diplomacy Mod: Twice now, after a battle that the AI initiates and just before my turn starts, Windows reboots. I have ProcMonitor running, but don't know how to read it. Where should I post my information, or who should I ask about it? Any suggestions?

Try enabling the Blue Screen of Death. I'm guessing you have windows XP here;

Open the control panel, open System, flip to the 'Advanced' tab, and click Settings in the third box from the top. In the lower half of that page, untick 'restart automatically'.

This will make windows give you a blue screen with details of the error instead of just rebooting.

Cool. But now it'll probably never happen again! Am I looking for anything in particular? Is it something I can take a screenshot of? And how would I do that? Thanks S.

Hmm I just replied to your post in the ProcMon thread. Anywho: no you can't capture a screenshot AFAIK; and no it's something related to your Hardware. So it's altogether quite unlikely that we can fix it -- however it doesn't neccesarily repeat itself; so you may be rid of it already. It sounds like a GFX card quits working altogether issue.

Try turning all the GFX settings down a notch or two. In particular AA and resolution settings.

You can write down the error message it gives you, it can be quite useful (especially compared to a random reboot for no apparent reason).
As Tellos says, it's most likely a hardware problem. You could try to turn up the settings and see if that makes the error happen more often and find out what is going on. Otherwise, turning down the settings might help you avoid the problem.

Well, it hasn't happened, and all I did was turn on the thinga-majiggy you mentioned (blue screen of death?) and run ProcMon in the background. Like taking the car to the mechanic, my engine's not making that noise now! Thanks guys (if you are, in fact, doods.)

problem solved: Blue screen said I needed new drivers for my video card. Thanks guys.
