Hello! ~

I am wondering in what turn high and late medieval eras occur?

I am also curious about when one can hire the Hussite mercenaries, and in what region(s)/provinces(s)? I guess it's not before late, and that they can only be hired in Prague region?

Hussites (http://warlore.org/units/Hussites).

Hmm... or maybe they aren't available as mercs. at all? :embarassed:

Can't answer the era ones (but I think early is "when you have castles", high is "when you have fortresses" and late is "when you have citadels". Same for city walls, although cities upgrade earlier), but the mercenary question is easy to answer.

The appearance dates of all mercs (along with their geographic zone, cost and regeneration rates) are in :

\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\descr_mercenaries.txt

I don't think you have to unpack your game for the file to exist either. In any case, there are no Hussite mercs, only rebels (which, btw, since it's a pet peeve of mine, appear wayyyy too early in the campaign - the hussite rebellion happened in the 15th century IIRC, and I've had hussites pop up in 1082 :/)

There are no eras in singleplayer, it is only a multiplayer option to limit the unit selection (eg no super knights if you select early era). In SP you can make units as soon as you have the necessary building for them.

I think that the eras are there for those who want to fight with realistic armies, ie no musketeers fighting against outdated spear militia from 500 years ago

Hmm... OK. :) But some units/mercs. require certain events to have occured, right?

But as described by Kobal2fr, it seems that many units have certain dates in which they are available:

Yup, it's true, but only for mercs. AFAIK, all faction units are available as soon as you've got their required building, except gunpowder units (which require the discovery event) and conquistadors (which can only be recruited in the Americas)

....And the 4th level ships, available when the "world is round" event occurs.

I forgot about the mercs. Most notable for some of the German ones.
