EDB minor issue - Epeiros recruitment

Epeiros can't recruit Thorakitai, Pheraspydes and Hypaspistai, though they have all of these units according to EDU and DMB

One more thing: Thorakitai have charge bonus of 1. Strange, since they are not phalanx unit or skirmishers.

But the strangest thing is though their spear charge is shown as 1, in EDU it is 4!

1) The recruitment was an oversight. Epeiros was forgotten to be added on the list, so to speak. Should be fixed with the next release of EB.
2) The Charge bonus shown is that of the primary weapon. Assuming you talk about everyone but the Hypaspistai you mentioned - this is the bonus of the javelin. The real charge bonus you will notice in game (not much charge if you throw a javelin, eh?) is that of the secondary weapon (the sword/spear) and is consistent with the EDU.

About the bonus???? I did not understand that, Are you saying that if they throw their Javelins the charge is 1 and if they don't they will have a more powerful charge??? If so, how much more powerful???

It is possible, but'll take a bit of your time.
1. Open EB/Data folder;
2. MOST IMPORTANG THING! make a copy of your export_descr_buildings.txt file and save it someplace else;

3.1. open export_descr_buildings.txt file and find 44 (in section army_barracks_I1 requires factions { thrace, greek_cities, }) +44 (in section royal_barracks_I1 requires factions { thrace, greek_cities, }) strings that start with
recruit "greek infantry thorakitai" 0 requires factions { greek_cities, }.....
change every such string to
recruit "greek infantry thorakitai" 0 requires factions { greek_cities, thrace, }...
Please,don't forget to add , after thrace or else game will crash.

3.2. (in section royal_barracks_K1 requires factions { romans_brutii, macedon, } ) find 7 strings that start with
recruit "greek infantry pheraspidai" 0 requires factions { romans_brutii, macedon, }...
copypaste all those strings in a position exactly after your last modyfied string recruit "greek infantry thorakitai" 0 requires factions { greek_cities, thrace }... in section royal_barracks_I1 requires factions { thrace, greek_cities, }
change every copied string to
recruit "greek infantry pheraspidai" 0 requires factions { thrace, }...

3.3. (in section royal_barracks_K1 requires factions { romans_brutii, macedon, } ) find 11 strings that start with
recruit "greek infantry hypaspistai" 0 requires factions { macedon, }...
copypaste all those strings in a position exactly after your last modyfied string recruit "greek infantry pheraspidai" 0 requires factions { thrace, }... in section royal_barracks_I1 requires factions { thrace, greek_cities, }
change every copied string to
recruit "greek infantry hypaspistai" 0 requires factions { thrace, }...

I am sorry but I doubt that it actually will work. Reason: you use MIC's of other factions which you as Epeiros don't have acces to. (There is a reason why we don't do this manually. ~;))

Unless of course both factions use the K-MIC that is...

Epeiros and KH do use the same native MIC ;-)

I truly hope my pidgin english was enough to explain him he has to add&change the strings in army_barracks_I1 { thrace, greek_cities, } and royal_barracks_I1 { thrace, greek_cities, }

Did that for myself back in good old days of 0.8 (disposing of illiriori thorakitai in the same time and renaming their icons and pictures), it worked fine for me.

Perhaps, on some occasion the file you were working with had regime "read_only" enabled. You can change this status in file attributes.

Anyway, you can follow first link in my signature and download from that tread my already modified EDB not only with heavy and elite infantry for Epeiros but many more intresting thingies. It is savecompatible and definitely has no bugs (129 downloads of last version, nobody complained thus far).
