I have some DVD images in formats unrecognizable by Nero 6. Should I update my Nero, so that he it will support them, or do I need separate pieces of software? Oh, btw the alien formats have extensions .md0, .mdf and .mds.

Thanks in advance. :balloon3:

To mount and burn those file formats you're going to need either the freeware Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php) or the trial version of Alcohol (http://www.alcohol-soft.com/).

Mounting disc images can definitely be a kettle of angry piranhas.

Alcohol 120% is great but for burning purposes few apps can beat ImgBurn... Why? It's small, powerful, compatible with most image & file formats, packed with features... and it's FREE!

Amusing note — I dl'd a .dmg file from the manufacturer's web site, which is fine and dandy. However, to install the software properly, you're supposed to burn it to disc first. The burner on the Mac is on the fritz, and I've been to lazy to fix it. So now I have to figure out how to burn a .dmg file on a Windows XP boxen. The only utility available (http://vu1tur.eu.org/tools/) does not work.

I finally worked it out by dragging the .dmg disc image into the Mac's Disc Utility, converting it to Disc Master file type, re-naming the file with the .img convention, and transferring the file to the XP box. We'll see if the app installs correctly after the three-way translation.

If that fails, I'm sure there's a linux liveCD out there somewhere with the correct tools on it ~;)
