AGP memory?

Ive posted this question before without getting a reply....i am currently playing MTWVI in the options menu under performance there is a slider with the title AGP memory...........can anyone tell me what this is for and currently i have the slider all the way to the right which is 381mb....any info?

I'm not entirely sure fan of Led Zeppelin, I don't actually have the game - perhaps you should ask someone with more experience with the interface.

Accelerated Graphics Port. I ve no idea what relationship it has with the game. Like you I ve noticed it, but never really found out what it is.

What to do with it depends on whether you actually have any AGP memory. All I can offer is that my previous PC did have AGP and worked best when I maxed out the slider, and my current one doesn't have AGP and works best when I set this to zero.

If you can set all the performance settings to max and it still works fine, it probably doesn't make a lot of difference where the AGP setting goes. If it gets a bit dodgy when everything is maxed out, fiddling with the AGP may just help a bit....

I looked into this at some point and i think it was to do with using some of your RAM as extra video memory if your video card doesnt have much. Modern video cards have more than enough video memory but when MTW was first released they might not have. Some gfx chips built into motherboards might not have so much memory but I think they may use their own mechanisms for borrowing RAM anyway so this option will probably have little effect in general.

I think I recall a previous motherboard of mine having some AGP aperture size option in the BIOS settings which was essentially the same thing. I think the MTW option is a software imitation of this hardware feature.
