Inquistor causing Heretic or Atheist?

I tried use Inquistor on my own general to raise their piety level, but after 1 or 2 tries it always grant them either a heretic or a Atheist(side affect is it will also give them a honest boost). Once my general got a heretic title then seems his piety drop to 0 and won't gain anymore. What's with this? Is inquisting the only way to gain piety?

Hmmm...

I posted in another thread the exact same thing, I just thought it was hard luck on my part. Now it seems like it is a bug.

My king/heir/generals DO get the boost afterwards though. It seems like the Atheist Vice is simply visual, not really true. At least in this case.

Just my 2 cents, but I would surely become heretic or atheist, too, if I was repeatetly tortured for a confession by the inquisition, even if I was pious as the pope to start with.

The questioning you put your general through twice is not gentle, you know .. ? *g*

And I saw somewhere in here that sometimes vices don't come to effect untill you get the next one (a bug), so maybe you are heretic now, but the game does not know yet.

Yeah, ive seen generals get 'athiest' as a vice after repeat inquisitions, but then it didnt bother me as ive only done it to enemy generals, & it makes them easier to burn next time you inquiiste them! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

BTW has anyone else left inquisitors in an area for too long? VERY extreme consequences! 'Oops, I've just committed a war crime' I thought, when i got the message that my inquisitors had burnt nearly 14000 peasants in castille. Anyway i moved them out the same turn i moved my army in, & i think the fact that the inquisition left helped provincial happiness, well i got a message to that effect anyway.

Yeah, I do that all the time to the others... hehehe... I have about 7 Inquisitions running at all times. Peasants are being burned like matches.

But come on, you have been publicly found not guilty in herecy or anything.
