How can a king have 10 authority "points", when adding and subtracting the values from his traits gives -3?

Before becoming a king, he was known as Thomas the Mad ~D

EDIT: I forgot to mention that this dude is king of England, during the Britannia campaign, Kingdoms

I've noticed that leaders with titles such as 'The Mean' or 'The Malevolent' tend to have extremely high authority ratings, often 10. Don't understand the maths behind that guys rating though. To gain titles such as 'The Mean' like your King has there, he usually has to gain traits like 'malevolent ruler', which gives I think +5 authority. Still not sure whats wrong with that guy though. Bug?

Kings with negative authority often end up with ten authority. I guess when it gets into negative numbers it wraps around to ten or something.

well, at least it isn't negative authority registered, or else you'd have rebels all over the damned place, and generals/towns turn-coating at the drop of a florin by a diplomat.

Thanks for the answers. I'm actually beginning to like this bug, because there are no more desertions, and those darn "traitor to our people" messages. At least while Thomas the Mad is the king. I mean Thomas the Mean ~D

Sounds like the old wrap-around bug indeed, like the one that was also present in MTW 1.

Expects in MTW 1 all French family members preferred young boys...
Seriously... i remember hating to play with France since they all had same problems, which i didn´t see with other factions.
