Stupid, foolish, thick headed idea considering how CA is acting right now, but I can't help myself.

I am wondering what many of you would think of another patch to MTW that takes care of some features, such as -

1. Fix GA goals and add some new ones to Factions lacking in them (I.E. Byzantines)

2. Adds the ability to customize GA goals, for existing and custom factions

3. Takes care of Sea Battles (No more 1 beats 10!)

4. Adds in culture as a factor in unit recruitment

5. Removes Province and Sea Zone limit

6. Fixs the Faction Shield bug

7. Allows the ability to add/remove/modify events

8. Allows for slighter greater depth in Diplomacy (Add the ability to give florins to secure loyalty, ask for military access - hey, its in there, a.k.a. Crusades, Jihads)

9. Fixs the inheritance for marrying into an another factions royal family and succession (allows those actually married into the royal family inside your faction to ascend to the throne, a good example would be the English - I think)

10. Makes traits make more sense(Hereditary, also no "Fanatic Humanists") and adds the ability to add/remove/modifiy them

11. Tiers for unit Upgrades (no more peasants with full plate and Toledo Pitchforks)

12. Fixs the A.I.s usage of agents so it uses them more intelligently AND like its supposed too.

13. Horse Archers shoot even while moving (Minor, but would still like)

14. Adds the "Jewish" and "Heretic" cultures, and adds A.I. for them and a few more for "Pagan"

15. Ability to "convert" factions, like you could FN_07, and possibly add features to them

Possibly more if anyone has suggestions. I know this thread kind of lacks a purpose, but I just had to get it out.

Nice dream. I f it came true, it would for RTW and MINO (Medieval-in-Name-Only) too. Then CA would be what it should be and we all happy. However, they're leaving even their most recent release (Kingdoms) unpatched and malware-infested.

Still, I haven't lost faith in CA completely. There's a chance, be it lower than 1%, that they choose to support their half-finished/buggy games and try the upcoming ones more thoroughly for problems. Then, I'll become an unconditional and even more loyal fan, promise.

Hey, never even thought it would come true. As it seems though, CA is driving its customers further and further back along their line of games from the recent releases, with most ending up at MTW :wall: . If this is intentional, then they should support it with a new patch  . I doubt it, makes little business sense, but the fact that people are saying that a PREVIOUS game has better playability is sad. I thought that each generation of games was supposed to be an improvement on the PREVIOUS one, but it seems to the opposite :inquisitive: . I think a good strategy would be to release a patch to ALL their games to fix those final bugs and initiate a program of patching games continuosly (Blizzard). This would restore their credibility and increase sales, with the fans knowing that they have adequate support. I am half tempted to email them the above list (which is rather short compared to RTW/M2TW).

I agree with you all the way YLC .. and perhaps on #13 horse archer units that were able actually perform cantabrian circles be made to do so in the animation portion of the engine when opened up and on and on ..etc etc :beam:

Short of a full construction set/random map generator which would undoubtedly mean a re-write of big parts of the game, I'd like to see a big expansion in diplomacy, factions being able to work together to coordinate attacks, being able to give (or sell) and receive money, units and even provinces.

MTW is a fantastic game, but we all know that a few areas could be radically improved, especially support for modding.

Interesting to see what people think, such a positive reaction too! What do you think of emialing them the list (plus any contributions from the community)? Better to had tried and failed, then to never to try at all :beam: . Maybe this should be moved to the Entrance Hall :inquisitive: ?

Oh man...

I would easily pay $100AUS for a patched-up version of MTW with YourLordandConqueror's issues resolved as above.

I would also apply resource restrictions on unit building, so that it wasn't simply a matter of factions training units until they ran out of cash, but rather that a certain patch of land can only produce a finite number of able-bodied fighting men.

Improved AI would be awesome, but I can't conceive as to how they'd be able to do it.

I think I'll agree with emailing CA this list. I liked RTW, but never really got into M2TW (just...all that reading pees me off! It's just too tedious...). MTW is much lighter on the info, not too little and not too much.

So, I'm for these changes to MTW1. I'd really love greater depth to diplomacy. Not to say that role-playing doesn't fulfill part of that element, but, you know, certain extra features would be good. Features that are implemented well, without too many of them.

Removing the province and sea zone limit...excellent. Even though I'm no longer interested in modding, what with other things in my life that are a bit more important, I bet VH and BKB would invent the warp drive in seconds of hearing any patch that does that :laugh4:.

The GA Goals I've heard are broken, so fixing them wouldn't go amiss. Greater depth to custom GA Goals is also a good idea. Imagine having to conquer a province by a certain date...or hold it between certain dates. But not as part of Homelands, as a more historical goal.

Plenty of great ideas in the list, and I'm all for them. Forget any game but MTWI - that's where it's at. :2thumbsup:

I'd also like buildings to be able to be restricted for factions or regions.

SPOIL SPORT :scastle3: !

Add 5 more, and thats it...

#16 A.I. retrains and merges its units

#17 A.I. Hires mercenary units

#18 A.I. more focused on an economic/balanced approach, rather then a purely militaristic approach.

#19 No more suicidal campiagn A.I. - If down to 1 or 2 provinces, 30% more likely to sue for peace and/or alliance

and #20 Remove the Unit Skins/Graphics Limit, so as to allow more variety ( More custom## slots)

Just one more please - the facility to transfer money to other factions just as the Pope does.

Many is the time I have been awash with cash and would love to be able to bolster a struggling ally by shipping them some lolly. Likewise, sweeteners might improve the chance of arranging a ceasefire or an alliance.

What's the point in being a superpower if you can't prop up a failing despot from time to time?

Oops, I meant one more and thats it FOR ME. Sorry abou the confusion. Right now I am compiling a list to send to CA. Maybe they will give us a final patch, maybe not. Something I have noticed though is that if you add in such a feature, not only does this add signifigantly more depth, but it makes it more fun. Something that I was thinkng of would be that once you have defeated an enemy (Killing of the royal ine for example), you could have the option as setting them as a vaassel instead of being eliminated with a new, extremely friendly King/Sultan/Emperor/Pope/Prince/Doge/etc that gets generated randomly. Benefits? 1/2 of that factions income as trade income for tribute, access to that factions unique units, ability to set the faction taxes, and the ability to walk through that factions land at any time as if you owned it (which you do, but for the sake of the engine it still belongs to that faction). Penalties? Faction has a boost to reappearance which grows every year at about 2% and starts at 10%, and a minor civil war in your holdings in the area around said vassal. Obviously to complex for the engine, but never say never...

Patch for MTW? You may mean M2TW?
Either you posted it in the wrong forum, or your post is 3 years late.

Yes, it would be awesome if the released the source-code for MTW1, so much could be done with it...

A couple of ideas I personally, find useful:

1. More campaign eras - at least 5,

2. Buildings restricted to certain eras too - the impact on the gameplay would be enormous, not to mention the possibilities it gives to MTW mods...

3. More language options - currently pagans use Latin... Maybe faction specific language files would be a good solution,

4. Something to explore climate-linked advantages/flaws like the camels have, but possible to add to other units,

5. Something to to switch off AI led skirmishing of missile troops,

6. Gunpowder armed infantry shouldn't revolve ranks unless it is desided in the projectile file - possibility for massive several rank deep salvos,

7. Possibility to add new resources just like it is now with the trade goods,

The current engine is very flexible anyway, but those options would improve the gameplay really much.
