View Full Version : I destroyed my barracks and can't rebuild it
Hi
So I finally got the Marian reforms in my Romani game. It's been a while since 0.81 so I didn't really know whether to destroy and rebuild the barracks in Italy, or simply upgrade them.
In Segesta I destroyed and rebuild. In Capua I upgraded. Now the barracks in Capua are 100% damaged each turn (I can still recruit legionaries, though).
But the strangest thing happened in Rome. I destroyed my guards barracks (which was 100% damaged), but now I can't rebuild. But again, I can still recruit legionaries.
So what's the right thing to do? Destroy? Upgrade and ignore the damage?

Destroy, then use process_cq cheat to "Rebuild" up to their former position. Add any lost money to coffers using add_money cheat. Everything is the exact same as it was prior to reforms - except that you have reforms and don't need to upgrade MIC for them to take effect.
I had that happen to me in my Casse Campaign when I got "Time of Soldiers".

When the Marian Reforms (or Time of Soldiers) hit, all MICs are damaged 100% and a new MIC for the new era is placed in your cities of the same level. Once the event occurs, just destroy your old MICs for some extra cash.
The new MICs will be at the bottom of the building list. If you have more then 24[?] buildings in the town, you won't be able to see building 25+, which may include your new MIC.

I destroyed the barracks. I can still build new units but can not repair the units in cities where I destroyed the old barracks. Help?
If they're units that you cannot recruit, you cannot retrain them.

I got the same problem but without the reforms (playing romans). I just conqeured segestica and cant build a barracks. I have the Lvl1 administration building do I need more to first unlock the barracks? Also in all the other conqeured territories its the same. But I can build the forghein barracks. (btw I am new this is only my 2nd post)

You'll have to wait until the Polybian Reforms to be able to build native barracks there.

In Segestica Korlon? :inquisitive: I thought he would need at least Marians for that?
A lvl 1 government?:inquisitive
If I understand the issue correctly, it is the "problem" that he can't build factional barracks outside of his starting cities and Segesta. But that is as it should be, and the reasons are in the FAQ.

You're right. I forgot the geography of the area a little there. Plus, most of what I focused on the post was on the fact that he could build a level 1 government and it wasn't Segesta. I thought you couldn't build level 1 governments at Segestica.
