View Full Version : Canst Thou Grasp the Sensation of Activity?

Is it likely that activity shall return here?
I am still reading the Empirical report thread, and it is clear to me that only three months ago there were campaigns being updated and related to the public every day.
Is this game truly mortally struck, or are it's fanatics simply engaged in the thralls of life currently?
I will not post in the Multiplayer topics until I have the game, but I would be interested in playing if there are still numbers who do so often.
Are the sacreligious deserters who carried the colours away to number two returning slowly, or is it too late to join the lines of this regiment in the community?
It does not matter either way, I will still play the game - however it is always pleasant to share such things with correspondence.

They're coming back with their tails between their legs, but we shall forgive the true repenters ~D Beguiled as they were by glitzy graphics and candyfloss screenshots, they have come to realise that it was all fairy gold, and upon the first rays of dawn it shall surely return to the dust and mould from whence it was conjured.
I doubt there will be a deluge. As new titles are released MTW will always lose players on the forums. A few of us will still be here as ever of course.
I am currently playing more RTW than MTW but that's mainly down to me modding MTW, and thus not being interested in playing it until I've got it working how I want.

As somebody who was posting more a few months ago, my only excuse is time. I am active in several IHs in the Chapter House and do dip in occasionaly. in particular I have tried to add to the XL guide. The one thing I have not been doing is playing anything but MTW. I loaded XL this year and have been enjoying finding new things to do within this great mod. The quality of the system has not gone away and MTW, like all great games, does not fade with time. Chess is a simple game with a lifetime of replay and challenges. To me MTW is very similar. Who needs preety pictures???:2thumbsup:

I have yet to install RTW, though I bought it nearly a year ago. Though I'm sure I'm missing something by not playing that title yet, something I am definitely not missing is my MTW fix.

It's all because EB. ~:mecry: I invest my entire gameplay time on it and don't have any left to play MTW, EU3 or else. :wall:

Come now!
I had mine own zeal thwarted by the rashness of the cult, EB, however it is true that stratagem and greater wars thrive here, in this place!
EB damages it's advantages of detail by the tediousness of which it describes them!
And in this the elders of EB have found me abandoning their worship - for this place is far more welcoming and submits far less to undesirable people!
Here we must find a way, and a means, of converting the forum again to your interests.
By intricate figures of the tongue or by unprecedented force we must show all others as I have found - that M.T.W. is the title that every man is worthy of, yet every man must grovel beneath!
Praise M.T.W. !!
....And then there are those of us who are *still* having problems getting their PC to work.... :embarassed: Trust me: I'll be losing sleep over MTW again as soon as I'm back up and running. ~;)

Sigh! Sad but true....the dreaded nvidia driver problem is proving to be far more potent an adversary than the Golden Horde! :wall:
The "good folks" at nvidia proved to be of some assistance....my unit movement problem was partially fixed, but at the price of the units themselves partially disappearing, trees turning into large yellow rectangular prisms, and hedgerows into large lime green sausages. Gadzooks! my troops did think that devilry and witchcraft was afoot, and they did flee the field in droves!
Sorry...got a touch carried away with myself there....
rest assured as soon as I am able to once again run a campaign, I will be boring all and sundry with further campaign posts....
This member has an 8xxx series card and claims to have got the game working.

Thanks for the heads up Caravel! I shall read with interest!

I dont have much time nowadays, and when I last played I was kind of beefed y macro-battles (AKA: more than sixty minutes -I got one once of l20- with enough reinforcement waves to force you to actually go through them), so I´m playing X-com when I am bored. But I might return any day I´ve time.
I love MTW1 and would be playing it if it weren't for my annoying loading screen problem. Whenever I go from campaign to battle, and back to campaign, the loading screen appears for about 1 minute doing nothing, and then it loads in about ten seconds, and then I can play. It is very very annoying.
Graphics card drivers and ATI ones in particular do seem to cause peculiar slow down problems during the campaign selection. Older drivers aren't really an option as from your other thread I assume that you have the X1900? You can try the oldest drivers available but I doubt it will make much difference. All in all it's probably as good as it will get.

I'd be playing MTWI now if it weren't for some annoying CTD issue. It wasn't ever there before, not even when my brother upgraded the drivers for Half Life 2 Episode 2 and Portal (there was a slow down loading the battlemap and campaign map up, but that wasn't a bother). Now it is there, and I have the necessary resolution CTD solution in place. Nothing else has been changed. I even uninstalled and reinstalled, then reinstalled XL 3.0. Unless it's the latter, in which case I've played it for several weeks...
I have NO idea what's causing my problem, because for over a year it's been fine. The only other time I had such a problem was when the computer needed rebooting...
Unless, of course, the DVD is damaged in any way. I mean, it looks like there's a smudge on the underside...that might be it. Nothing else I can think of, unless the computer really does need rebooting. It's sad, too, because I looked forward to playing as Castile-Leon on GA in XL 3.0...or as anyone, for that matter. Looks like I can't do it at the moment.
Any suggestions? I've only ever needed the one CTD solution...*touch wood*. And this current problem only started after I played a Quick Battle while XL 3.0 was installed (was the Italians...but they had the Venetian flag). Yet, that doesn't make sense because I selected a Quick Battle once before with the mod installed, or it's previous version, and never had any problems...
EDIT: Starting a new topic solely for my CTD issue...it might not get much attention here.
I went and got myself married, but I'm back to playing MTW now.
Recent campaigns:
- Vikings, Ironman (completed)
- Historical campaigns - Barbarossa (1 battle to go!)
- XL Burgundians Late (1396AD)
I don't think the game will ever be truly dead. In 50 years time our descendents will be playing it on PC emulators. :laugh4:
Well my PC is finally back up and running again, so I'll be returning to playing MTW on a fairly regularly basis once more. :2thumbsup:
(Of course, I won't be able to til this weekend now, what with Thanksgiving and all. That's okay, though; I can wait. ~:))

Well, I *think* I solved the CTD issue (turns out the computer needed rebooting...*touch wood*). Now I've begun a Castile-Leonese/Early/Hard/GA/XL 3.0 campaign...and even though I only got to play part of the first turn, I'm not in rushing-mode when I play, so I feel like a true Medieval monarch :egypt:. Hehe...I know that's Egyptian, but that smiley is kinda cool, so yes, I had to use it.
I also uninstalled M2TW...I just could not get into it. I might dabble in RTW again one day...but M1TW has won my heart. That and animation. LOL. :laugh4:
Oh and Roark...why would you go and do a thing like that, getting yourself married? Do you get any lands if your wife's faction is eliminated? :laugh4: *Joking!*
