For Rome:Total War MP, I hear alot of people like playing this for fun, but MT2W more for tournments. Is that right?

Alot of People went back to Rome because of Ploblems with MT2W. There are Tournments in both RTW and MT2W, but to my understanding, MT2W is more popular with tournments since it newer (of Course).
