1. Defensife battle against two Carthaginian armies near Syracuse
- left flank - Samnite Ally + Numidian Ally
- centre - one SPQR legion
- right flank - Syracuse Ally with one battalion
- on the last picture of this battle you can see a fallen insignia of the SPQR legion, it was really hard skirmish on my left flank

2. Battle against Carthaginian army with strong left flank near Hadrumentum
- left flank - Syracuse Ally with two battalions
- centre - Greek Mercenary Phalange + Syracuse Bowmans
- right flank - one SPQR legion
- I started the attack on my right flank with SPQR legion. The Elite Afrikanes held their lines very long. Thank God SPQR Alae of Equites broke their lines, but the Afrikanes fouht to their bitter end and many of young Equites found death on the blades of Afrikanes swords. On the left flank the Syracuse Hoplites were pushed back at first but the Mercenary Phalange was able to help them because against their sarisas stood week units which routed in several minutes of fighting.

3. Skirmis somewhere in Lusotania
- on the firts pictures you can se that the enemy general was caught into the pocket trap after heroic/stupid attack on my left flank
- I stardted quickly movement with my reserves and cavalery on the tail of my advanced troops along enemy left flank. The main Lusotan forces began to panic and I didnt cath to close whole trap:(
- it is a pitty that there was some error by saving:(

How do you get all your battle options at the top of the screen and stuff?

Pharnakes

minimal UI, enable it in prefrences

Also for the best pics and gameplay experience, IMHO of course, disable the green arrow markers and the banners... also playing a battle in a forest with general cam gives the best realism possible but you miss the details that's why I don't always enable it.. but it makes it definitely harder.

How can one do that, please?

How can one do that, please?
Go in: \Activision\Rome - Total War\EB\preferences

open preferences txt and set these:
SHOW_BANNERS:FALSE
UNIT_EXPERIENCE_UPGRADE_EFFECT:FALSE (I also remove the "sparkle" effect"
DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:TRUE
MINIMAL_UI:TRUE

Set SHOW_BANNERS:TRUE to FALSE and DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:FALSE to TRUE in your RTW/EB/Data/preferences/preferences.txt.

EDIT: oops, too slow^^

SPQR? Looks like you're playing as Greece with all those hoplites and Greek units.

Nice encirclements though. :smash:

Or open up prefrences.txt and change: DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:FALSE to TRUE, this will permananatley bannish the arrows to the outer blackness were ther is wailing and gnashing of teath!! (and also galatains doing the wailing and gnashing of teath).

Dayve is wright, you dont play with Historically accurate armies, and that the best of EB. In Camillan and Polybian legions Roman ans Allies where taken in equal numbers, only the allied cavalry outnumbered the Roman Cavalry. Also if you have to take allies, there are the Samnites, the Lucannians, and now Campanian cavalry, and take a few Classic Hoplites to represent Rome's other allies who still used the hoplite, like the Marsi, Marruccini, Brutians, and the southern Italian-Greeks. But please for Jupiter Maximus try to play Historically, leave those Phalangites out, they are an eye sore to any good Roman:shame:

Cheers.

Thank you for your notes, guys!
You are right, that from above mentioned pictures it looks that I play more as the Greek than as Roman. These battles were not so standard as usually because my Roman units were depleted due to repeated battles.

My standard army is half Roman and half Samnites or full Roman with Etraordinarii Swordsman and Extraordinarii Equites.

Would it be possible to send some pictures of your tactical composition of the Roman army before battle, pls?

I assume you know that if you hit 'return' it 'unselects units so you can temporarily get rid of the green arrows without disabling them ?...

cheers,
