View Full Version : Marian Reform Q.
According to the FAQ the reqs. are to:
-At least the year 172BC
-Have more than 6 Latifundia built in Italy
-Hold at least 45 settlements
-Fight more than 250 battles
-Have a character that is:
Sharp/Charismatic/Vigorous
Popularis
Consul or Ex-Consul
Has Influence > 2
Has Command > 2
OR
-Conquer 90 settlements.
Latifundia were the best level farming in Vanilla RTW IIRC but it seems to have changed in EB so could someone tell me what Latifundia in EB are?

It looks like a vineyard and it takes 12 turns to built. First you need to built the villa I think, which takes 6 turns and it also might require some farming level before it can be built. And yes, you need 6 of them in the peninsula.
According to Build_Tree_Romani in your EB installation it is the next level of Villae Rusticae, which is the next level of Ager Divisus et Assignatus :)
wait a minute. so how does the AI get the marian reforms?!?!?! there's no way it's smart enough to accomplish all of those requirements >.<

"...OR just conquer 90 settlements".
That something the AI could handle, I believe.
I don't think I've ever seen the AI conquer anywhere near 90 settlements.

I've never seen the AI advance past Polybian reforms in a campaign.

IIRC if you get to a set year in the campaign AI Rome will automatically get the reforms.

In about 24 years, the Romans in my campaign have managed to take 1 (rebel) settlement. *sigh*

Briliant, Xehh II, how many months playing eb, and you still don't know what Latifundia are?
I'm delighted to see this:2thumbsup:
DEATH TO ROMANS:smash:
BTW, I really am not being sarcastic, I am trully deligthed to see there is an eber who hasn't even tried the romans untill now, I have to confess that not even I have had the sterngth for such an honurable accoplishment.
I've been playing EB since 0.8 came out, and I've never even considered playing as the Romans. I have tried them out in custom battles, but that's about it. Romans simply do not interest me. For the record, I've played longish campaigns with every faction except for SPQR, AS and Makedonia.
I've been playing EB for about half a year and this is my first serious Rome campaign. I've only just got the Polybian Reforms and I've already got most of the Marian reqs. apart from the Latifundia and 250 battles, damn, how do you get 250 battles?

Its sort of becoming the opposite, everyone bags out Roman fanboys, but there are now more Roman haters than Roman lovers, everyone on EB bags out Roman fans and calls us noobs etc. I dont understand why, the Romans are awesome as a race and have a great history, so there is no inherent reason why anyone should hate them.

You know, they suffer from envy... it is such a bad thing :beam: [ joking ]

The requirements for the Marian and Augustun reforms seem impossible. It shouldn't this hard to get the reforms. Is there a way to alter the script so after a certain year the reforms automatically happen?
How does a character get the popularis trait? And it seems I do not have any consuls....

I'm proud to say I'm a fan of Rome. But there are other factions I like equally, such as Pontos and Makedonia.

Send 10 individual units of levies to fight one army each turn for 25 turns. Just automatically resolve each battle. :laugh4:
If I capture 90 settlements do I still have to fight 250 battles?

No.

I've been playing this same campaign since EB 1.0 came out, and I've only fought 225 battles!
:beam:
That's good, conquering 90 settlements would be far easier than fighting 250 battles because so far I've only fought 30 something battles.

When I last played a Romani campaign and got to the Marian Reforms, I think I had 400+ battles fought. Though, to be honest, the battles requirement isn't really required... :skull:

Do you really fight less than 3 battles per setlment cpatured? even including dealing with all the anoying little 1 and 2 stack rebels?

Have you been to Gaul? If not, that will solve this problem. Regardless with which faction I went there, the green and yellow death always offered me at least 100 battles.

I do, usually. :/

Like said before, you don't have to fight 250 battles anymore. The battle-requirement stated in the FAQ for the Marian and Imperial reforms is obsolete. I've checked the script myself to see the requirements myself.

What the fuck are you talking about? Show me where every EB member has "bagged out" Roman fans.
I dont think he meant EB members, just some of us plebs. And "everyone" is a bit exaggerated, indeed.

I think he's talking about the EB forums.

What? I'm fighting in Gaul now and I've only had two field battles and the rest have been sieges, the Averni have been pushovers, I captured their capital and they only have two towns left and I'm just about attack the Audui proper but they're weak as well.
In fact the hardest part of my campaign was taking over iberia but in the end it was easy and once the polybian legion is trained for my Spanish rebel I'll be ready to attack Carthage.

Strange...
I am always bombarded with green and/or yellow stacks as soon as I set one foot across the Rhine/the Alps, with up to three or four major field battles per turn.

As a Roman fan all I have to say is:
Let them hate us so long as they fear us :beam:
I guess "everyone on EB" doesn't necessarily mean "everyone on the EB team". It would instead generalize all of the EB team and every other forum member, which would be even worse. It's a completely false statement and has no basis anywhere.
