I've decided to try and fix this. I installed Microsoft Office 2003 and it appears that Word, Excel, and Powerpoint all hang on start up. Anyone have any experience with this?
I assume you've done at least one uninstall/reinstall? May I recommend another?

Try 3.
I should mention that this is on Vista. In theory, it was supposed to work. It does not.

My computer turned Russian for a second. Let's try that again, shall we?
I just reinstalled Microsoft Office again. It caused all my gadgets to crash. I will NOT be trying that again. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm still listening.

Get OpenOffice!
...I know, lame suggestion, but that's what I did. :sweatdrop:

... I did this. Unfortunately, my professors only accept MS tagged papers (online turn in). I don't mind converting the files on a friend's computer, but this is somewhat inconvenient.

OO will output to .doc, as far as I know.

I realize that, but there are conflicts between certain features. For instance, when I was checking the results of a .ppt conversion I found that several features were ignored. I had to go back and spend about ten to twenty minutes checking through everything. I assume excel would have similar issues. I can't imagine word having any such issues.

OK, I got everything except word to start up. However, I can't open files. I can make them, but I can't open them...
It's even lamer than OO, but Office 2007 will most likely work. :sweatdrop:
Sorry, but I have no idea why, my Outlook 2002 seems to work fine so far, for the rest I use Open Office.

I'd rather to keep my stuff without kill switches thank you.
I tried to set up outlook. Works almost perfectly. *knock on wood*
Strange. Very strange.
What kill switches? :inquisitive:

Dude, you didn't know about the kill switches?

For the record, this issue was resolved by using virtual pc 2007 to emulate windows. The problem? This may have led to the demise of my pc.
