You heard me. Now that does not compute right?

Has anyone else heard of this insanely irrational problem. BTW I'm talking about the battle scenes. One time it ran real slow when I had 200 units on the battlefield all at once, I hate to think what the big battles are gonna be like! I've got the latest drivers for my card and other games (with far more complex graphics) are running utterly perfectly. So this is obviously a huge bug.

Anyone else encountered performance problems on a fast machine?

Turn of anti-alising.

I run a 950 AMD with a 32meg Geforce MX and i run large MP battles just fine.

Since I can't find that option in the Medieval options menu I'll assume you're talking about the anti aliasing option in the windows settings. In that case, it already is off sadly. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Well that definetly proves it's a bug. BTW I run Windows ME I thought I would mention. Pile of shite I know but all windows versions are anyway.

Make absolutely certain that you have:

The version of DirectX that comes with the game (install it).

The latest driver for the video card.

I have a puny TNT2 and it runs quite well.

I also run Win ME.
Here are my specs.

950 AMD Athalon
WinME
128 megs ram
soundblaster live card i think
32 meg Geforce2 MX

Try turning off or down your sound options. Try using 800x? res. Lower the pci texture memory also.

I have much worse PC and the MTW runs smoothly. Win 2K, P3 800MHz, 320MB RAM, normal TNT2 32MB 32bit colour 1024x768. Suggestion: install DirectX 8.1b, latest NVidia Detonators drivers, the latest sound card drivers and all the internet Win updates.

the version of directx on game CD2 is tested and works with the game using geforce crads (I have a geforce card),
The DirectX version available from microsoft downloads does not.

That caused me so much grief!

LoL, dont use 800X600 when you have GF2 Ultra. if u use 800X600, why did u buy that card anyway, that card is quit powerful and should support 1024X768, first step, update all your driver, and install DX8.1 even you have it installed.

Good luck, may the force be with you http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

This may not help you, but I have a problem where every D3D program runs very slow in Win9x on my computer (P3 1 Ghz, Gf3 graphics card). Yet if I dual boot to win2k everything works great. Multiple reinstalls have not fixed this problem. Anyway just something to consider.

Thanks for the tip barocca I'll have to try installing that version on DirectX on win9x.
