Thank you so much! This document has been really helpful and I do intend to make it my first stop for information every time I decide to retire!

I think you'll find the correct answer to
"How can a modder retire?" is
"He can't it's hard coded"

As there doesn't seem to be a solution to this problem I think this tutorial will have to be moved from the Scriptorium to Mod Discussion, apologies in advance...

Like most addictions, I think it helps to take on another habit forming hobby. Like mints and coffee for smokers. For modders it could be... ... I dunno, modding another game?

lol

just out of interest, how much time do you modders have actually played your own mod(s)?

I know I usually find myself making the next mod(ification) or switch to an other/previous game than really playing with my own mods, at least I usually dont play like I "often" play vanilla ...
(its like 100h modding --> 1h playing in the end...)

Hey people, at least when you don't play and keep modding you're doing something great for all of us but I have no excuses, as I do the same but I only mod for me.

The same happened to me with Hearts of Iron 2: I spent almost one year and a half tweaking it and, actually, I have never finished a campaign. Ah, but I learned a lot of WW2 history!

Ok, back to mod.

(Screw you, Gandalf!)

you're doing something great for all of usHmm, all? :inquisitive:

For very few 0.01% actually..
Vast majority is ok with vanilla, others will play RTR becoz of many downloads, EB becoz hate romans, LTC becoz again ok with vanilla, BC becoz of shiny graphics, etc
So unless it is you who making this mods, not for many of us :brood:

And all that work just for "thanx".
...or even without...

basicly the reason you wont see me in any mod-effort (as mod-slave!) or release any full mods, as in my experiance you need a mainstream mod, something done by everything or you're better of keeping it to yourself
If you make something really new or are the first to explore new features/possibilities you more often than not just get demands(some label them requests) and than get flamed cause you're not interested in them

(I've even had modders who left rather disrespectfull impressions cause I told them I dont join mods cause of bad experiances in the past ...)

modders (that haven't retired) have to relax somehow
