I probably should have posted this in the Shogun forum, but no one goes there it seems. I bought a copy of Shogun today along with the Medieval strategy guide (I thought it might be fun to see what the original was like). $20 (American) can't go wrong right. As I walked out of the store, I took the game out of its cd case and tossed the case out. When I got back, I discovered that I needed the code that was on the back of the case to install. Does anyone know how to override this so I can install the game?

I actually wasn't as stupid as the situation makes me appear, I checked the cd case over for just such a code before I tossed it into the trash (albeit not very carefully since I am in this situation). As much as I appreciate your sentiments, its really not helping me play the game. Anyone, anyone.....?

Im sure many people would like to help you, but if they post it here, the forum leaders will likely boot the helper for illegal conduct.

we dont give out cd key numbers nor condone such. but, since you say you have the cd you can call activision and i believe they can help you. iirc, you'll also need access to a fax machine.

First, if you paid $20 US for the original Shogun, you got ripped. $9 to $12 is the going price at all of the sources in my neck of the woods.

Secondly, why would anyone throw a perfectly good CD case away, even after they got home?

Thirdly, it makes even less sense to dicard the case in between home and the store, leaving you with no way to protect the disk.

I suppose the dog ate your homework too.

I might have been born at night, but it wasn't last night. Sheesh.

If you just bought it today go get it out of the trashcan man! Seriously, you have to realize no one here is going to give you a code for your burned copy of Shogun.

Wow, sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction isn't it? I assure you that I am completely truthful and may I be punished in some horrible way if I am not. Secondly allow me to explain my situation. I got off work a bit early today (I punch in food orders at a local Wendy's restaurant) I decided to run by CompUSA to buy the Medieval strategy guide, which I thought was worth buying as Medieval has a large number of units whose purpose I am not to sure of. While at the store I spotted a single copy of Shogun Warlords Edition costing $19.99. I knew it was a little too expensive but I had $20 burning a whole in my pocket and decided to buy it anyway. As I walked out of the store I opened the box and stuffed the CD case and manual into my pocket, throwing the box away. I still had a good 20 minutes till one of my parents came to pick me up so I sat there leafing through the strategy guide. I knew my parent would not approve the supposed waste of money that had just occurred so I took the CD case out of my pocket and looked it over quickly for any signs of a serial number, being satisfied to find none (besides, Medieval requires no such number for it's installation). I than stuffed both CDs into the strategy guide as to conceal them. So there it is, my I assure you that my claim is most legitimate. My honor remains preserved (although somewhat undermined by that fact I deliberately tried to conceal something from my parents). I suppose I could still dig that case out of the trash, if they haven't emptied it already.

Well, I have to admit that your full explanation makes your story quite plausible, and I apologize for my accusation.

Good luck with your problem.

Cheers

P.S. If you had been really thinking you could have told your folks that the game came free as a bonus with the manual.

Not us, we can't do anything. People should contact Activision with this sort of problem.

Closing this. .org stays far away from anything that might be illegal. Contact Activision. That's all you can do.
