I'm sure it's still a touchy subject to some people, but could you tell me in the least dramatic way the reason for and results of the feud between the RTR people and the EB people?

Afaik it all started 2 years ago on a dark November night. One of the EB people at that time had agreed on a meeting with one of the RTR guys because they actually lived quite close and wanted to exchange some early ideas.

You know how such things tend to evolve, they got some drinks, and talked and talked and talked...

to be honest both were quite drunk and they decided to go over to the guy's place because he had some good vodka there. So at his house they started to discuss the Gaesatae and how to represent a true naked fanatic....


The next thing they remembered was waking up naked in the guy's bed. No one knows what really happened because they both were too drunk, just neighbours reported hearing some weird yelling in a strange and foreign language that night...

Since then the whole situation is a bit complicated...accusations, suspicions,...you know how such conflicts evolve. Maybe one day the mystery of that night can be solved and they will calm down...

the "Bug Support" team is analyzing a new video which turned up last week. it contains yet unseen footage of said night filmed by a neighbour... it's all a bit dark and blurry but a member reported that you can see 2 naked men running through the garden yelling, the celtic voicemod team is now trying to decipher the yells...something with swords but it's not clear if that's just a metaphor...

Something like that, yeah. But we've actually pretty much kissed and made up now (as near as I can tell from the discussions on the internal RTR boards) and have for quite a while.

I mean, it's still a bit awkward. EB is getting ready to dump its old girlfriend, RTW 1.5, to date the younger, hotter M2TW model. RTR is still pretty happy with its BI girlfriend, but I think some people suspect RTR has the hots for M2TW. I don't really know the truth behind this rumour, but for the most part everyone is happy again.

Innuendo aside, RTR and EB haven't really had any problems with each other for a while. It mostly started with an ex-leader of the RTR team and certain key members (particularly of beta teams) being involved in certain unfair and dishonourable conduct (of questionable legality, at that). Said members have long since left the communities and, while there have been a few little hiccups since, I've not seen any issues for a long time.

So the only "rift" that is left is the fact that they are still seperate teams that are pursuing separate goals and with different techniques. There are, of course, some similarities - aim for historical accuracy, for one - but in the end we're working to create different products.
