Everything should be clear from the title, but in case it was not:

I have always wondered if was in some way possible to play a game that is available on Steam (that I already own), and add it to my account without buying it again. Anyone know anything about this? Is there anyway I can show Steam that I already and that I just want to add it to the account so I can basically "own it" all the time without carrying a bunch of floppies and cds with me that I have collected over the ages?

Once again, these are games that have recently become available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available available on Steam, primarily from ID and Activision.

I don't think he means adding a shortcut to the My Games list. I think he means activating a physical copy of a game so it appears on your Steam account, so you can reinstall it without a CD on another computer. As far as I know, I've been trying to figure that out. I would LOVE to transfer my copy of Dark Crusade over to Steam.

And that from someone who complains about Kill Switches? :inquisitive: ~;)

I don't have Steam but what you want sounds almost impossible unless you contact Steam or someone else directly but even then they will likely refuse this due to Steam using different activation methods etc and you might end up with two copies while you payed for just one, I think most games for Steam are somehow modified to work with Steam so you could play your Steam copy and sell the other one which is why they most likely won't do that since you bought only one and when you sell that one you shouldn't be able to play anymore.

My guess.

I doubt it will work; there are usually not insignificant differences between the two versions, and they quite literally have different publishers ~:(

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but at least I have plenty of room to fall back. :smash:
