i am gonna use the laptop for some small games......i am also goonna use it for build a website and stuff like that plus studies...and my budget is around 800$ US....I am not good at computers, I don’t know how to choose a good one. I search on line, and found two.
One is Dell 1420. Intel Dual Core T2310 1GB DDR2 80GB $699

Acer Aspire 7720-6155 Notebook
Intel Core 2 Duo mobile T5250 (1.50GHz) processor, 2GB, 160GB Hard drive.
I find a recent deal for it is only $750 instead of $850.

Can you give me some suggestion, which one is better?
Or recommend some other nice laptop.
Thanks.

Hello StealStick00,

The Acer has 2 GB of ram and twice as much HD space. There may be good things about the Dell, but the extra RAM of the Acer is a pro. The $50 should buy an extra 1 GB of RAM (Dell asks $125 for it). Dell also offers to double the HD for +$25 to 160 GB.

It's not completely clear what you get with Acer though, there's a product sheet on Acer but that's another spec.

Acer also seems to offer a larger display (17", Dell only 14.1).

I'ld go with the Acer for the things you mentioned: more RAM and comfort of a larger desktop.

Edit: typo.

I wouldn't recommend either in all honesty. If at all possible better advice would be to save up for something better. Acer is a well known budget make, but the lack of info on that model makes it difficult to recommend. At a glance however, it does appear a better deal than the dell. If you are going for Vista I certainly wouldn't accept anything under 2 GB of Ram.
