View Full Version : A line on GIS?
Can anyone please give me a line on a good GIS (for archaeology) program. I'm at the point where I need to start processing data for publication. I need something that will do high volume spatial and cluster analysis with good graphics. I've been told Arc is good, but want to get a detailed opinion if possible.
I'm thinking the data base and graphic type system used for this kind of game is not that different?
ArcGIS is the best :) easy to use and with a great interface. It's one of my worktools so I can be a little biased but I really like to work on it. Also, it has the advantage that everyone works on it so if you need to trade information, it'll be that much easier.
Cheers...

ArcGis does allow you to write your own VisualBasic/SQL/etc extensions, should you wish to do something really specific.
Apart from that I only ever heard of ArcGis and something obscure in the back of my mind something related to Autodesk...
