I have the game for a few years now. Until now I've only played as the English. Usually I only build a lot in Wessex and the province under Anjou (can't remember the name right now). Still even then I don't build *everything* in those two provinces. The only things I build in other provinces are mines and buildings needed to train province-specific troops.
Then again, I'm not like....ehm, rushing over my foes http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
So maybe this is NOT the way to go.
I was wondering how other people are handelling things. Do you guys build everything and everywhere ?

Basic Rule 1 in the game:

YOU CAN NOT BUILD EVERYTING IN ONE PLACE !

As there simply is not enough time in the game to do so. So you got to build like provinces where you upgrade cavalery, others for ranged etc etc. For my it mostly depends on province bonuses and strategical issues (but these vary per game).

Ofcourse if you change the start date in the game you can build everything, but i suppose you didn't....

I pick 1 place as my capitol. It is ussaly easily defended and in the heart of my empire. I build almost everything here.

Then I pick 2 provinces to build Infantry. I pick 1 province for archer types, 1 for seige, 1 for cav, and 1 for strat units. In these provinces I build the buildings to train and upgrade the type of unit that the province will specialize in. Plus economic upgrades as they become useful.

This enables me to build up a decent fighting force within a couple of years. I try not to keep large standing armies. I keep just enough to defend. If I need to go on the offencive I just build up my army and within 2 to 3 years i'm ready.
