Just in from the Ministry of the Bleeding Obvious,

The US Dollar is at a record low against the Euro & the Sterling. And looks like it could slide further before it picks up. Oil prices are at a record high too, but has not impacted airline prices as heavily as predicted by some analysts of our ministry.

It's the best time to go to America ! So is anyone reading the news & booking flights ? It would be cheaper now for us than in the past 15 years or more, if the ministers don't stay at the Waldorf Astoria that is.

So is anyone reading the news & booking flights ? I'm going! Next September I will. But I've had it planned since a few months now.

I think I am going to buy Texas while there. :toff:

Then I am going to put a large fence around it, and turn it into a nature and culture reservation, to preserve unique and endangered species like coyotes, armadillos and Strikes for future generations. :book:

I think I'll leave off going to the US until I'm 21. Not being able to go into pubs and clubs again would be completely emasculating.

Albert, Texas, has a new owner, but the identity is a mystery

A small, uninhabited town in Texas has been sold on the internet auction site, eBay, to a buyer in Italy for a little over $3m (£1.45m).
The town, called Albert, is about 100km (62 miles) outside San Antonio and features a schoolhouse, a dancehall and a bar.

The town's current owner, Bobby Cave, said he was checking the identity of the buyer, to confirm the deal.

He added he had several other serious bids should the sale fall through.

Mr Cave, 47, an estate agent, said he sold the land after three-and-a-half years as he was ready to move on to his next project.

"I bought it with the intention of creating a little family camping venue where people could come out and drink and enjoy local live music," he told PA news agency.

He said the town's population consisted of himself and a groundsman at weekends.

The winning buyer will take over an icehouse created from the frame of the old general store, a pavilion, an 85-year-old dance hall, a tractor shed and a three-bedroom house, together with peach and pecan orchards. Strike, quick! What is the name of the town you live in!? :beam: :sweatdrop:

Best way is to take everything out of wrapping and just put it in as if it's yours from before. A friend of mine just got back from New York. She went with an empty suitcase. Came back full of clothes, she got stopped by customs and they opened it. Nothing was wrapped and most was scruffled up. They did'nt object and let her through, she bought a laptop as well.... ahem.

Anyway in the long run this isn't going to last so if anyone has plans they better hurry.

BTW just to save any misunderstanding. This thread is just an alert for anyone who's going to USA from EU. It does'nt mean the weak dollar is bad, bad for the economy, or bad in any other way. Just a heads up, bit of fun and fantasy, and ofc SHOPPING!

In fact at most times in US history the weak dollar has been good for the economy (obviously). Only this time it's gone pretty low, oil price is pretty high, combined it might make for an interesting short term market.
