carthage has 5 types of temple.

and their LV5 effects listed below:

Astarte:+happy 20%;moral+2;exp+1;trade+10%(rough estimated);

Tanit:happy+25%;trade+25%;

Baal-Malquart:happy+20%;tax+3%;trade+15%;

Aphrodit:happy+35%;moral+2;PublicOrder:10%;

Baal-Hammon:happy+25%;law+25%;trade+25%;

it seems only 2 types are useful for us among all the above temples,

Astarte,for some key military city and Hammon for the others.

do you guys ever build any other temples? if not, what're the meaning of their existence? esp. for Tanit and Malquart? or am i misunderstanding of their effects?:embarassed:

another question is about the traites,i found 2 countradict traites on one general:
"good defender " and "cower behinde walls"?:sweatdrop: is that very normal due to hardcoded?:embarassed:

Maybe that guy is good at defending in open terrain, but can't quite cope with wall defense.

Yeah, its reasonable to suppose he could be a good field comander, but crack up when asked to defend a city.

As for the other, I some times try and roleplay it and build lots of different temples, but mostly I disolve into shameless exploitsim and have jsut one temple type per faction.

Also, the morale bonus are broken sice 1.3, I belive, so there is really no point outside of roleplaying for temples other than bal-hammon.

Uhm Astarte gives that little crack unit called the Sacred Band (Cavalry)... And Hammon gives the Sacred Band (Infantry). AFAIK.

I would say they are mainly for roleplaying, such as always building temples of Aphrodite in formerly Greek cities, which is what I generally do. And thanks for the tip about the sacred band, I wondered how to recruit them.

I thought EB had no units recruitable through temples? Or so some EB member said a while back...

Yeah checked with the EDB and it appears I was wrong. :oops:

That could have been before 1.0 though.

No, it wans't. He is thinking of vannila, maybe, which used the temple system, but eb has always used mics. At least it has for all public releases.

I think a different system for temples is needed. Cities didn't have just 1 temple to 1 god in them, especially the Romans.

I'm not saying i have any suggestions on how to better the current system or anything, i'm just saying i think something different is needed. The other alternative is the multiple temples mod... not sure if it's compatible with EB (pretty certain it won't be actually) but i didn't like that, each temple gave its own bonuses and you could end up with every city having 200% loyalty which isn't right.

Perhaps an extra building which represents all the other temples you can build and gives 5% loyalty or something but cannot be upgraded or anything, just a single-tier, one-off building. Wouldn't make much difference i know but still, makes the whole thing feel even more realistic.

I think i'm gonna make a seperate thread about this actually.

Well, some time ago, I played another RTW mod (maybe I.B.F.D.) and it used the following system:

- a city has its main temple/god
=> up to max. level, AND

- the same city can build "smaller" temples to ALL the other gods
=> up to level 2 and giving less boni than a "regular" temple.

I've found that an interesting idea.

That was from Roma Surrectum I think

Maybe for EB2, an overhaul of the system used for EB1 for so long is most likely not going to happen.

I think RTR has polytheism. I know I've seen it somewhere and I haven't played Roma Surrectum yet.

Yes, though I'm not 100% sure, I second your guess. IBFD has the Christianism/Zoroism/Pagaism system from BI.

EDIT: IIRC, it was a submod of RTR.

well that makes sense :yes:

i guess from a practical view,nobody will build less useful temples,because public order is really a tough issue when your empire expasion.

and i agree with what Dayve said,furthermore, maybe we could build up a temple system, we can build one major temple which can upgraded to LV5, and other minor temples to LV2 or 3,and maybe we can make some extra bonus or penalty for the combination of different temples in one city? as we know some GODs are pleased with each other and some are not?:beam:
