Ok, I've played Total Wars since Shogun, but apparently at some point I totally missed how the hell can I get ceasefire with the AI factions once I'm at war with them. I mean I have literally played RTW and mods years without knowing how I can get ceasefire (yeah you can call my idiot and whatever :)), I mean I know how to initiate the diplomatic relations, but the AI literally NEVER accepts ceasefire no matter what the situation is like. So now I'm asking one of you "pro" guys out there to tell me what do I need to do to get them sign the frikking ceasefire :)

I would recommend downloading the Forced AI Diplomacy download in the unnofficial Mod's area.

Unfortunatly, this is the amazing, ground-breaking RTW diplomacy.

Your best bet is to hope the AI WANT a ceasefire, its happened to me before, my stupid ass just says no when I really need it lol. Most of the time they ask for cash, sometimes for settlements. When they ask me for settlements, I send them a big F U to the face, while if they ask for cash and I screw up, like asking them for maps if I give em cash, I just give em the amount they asked for later or just a bit more.

Simple eh?

If not just kill those evol evol bastids ';..;'

AI will barely ever accept ceasefire if you share a border with them. You can have them completely surrounded with only 1 city left and no army and they will still see no need to accept a ceasefire. Sometimes, VERY rarely they will just accept out of the blue, but 99.9 times out of 100 they will flat out refuse.

However, if you don't share a border they will accept almost all of the time. For example, play as the Romani and kick Epeiros off the peninsula. After that they will accept a ceasefire because you don't share a border. Try to acquire one before kicking them off the peninsula however and you'd have more chance of getting a rock to shit gold coins.

I find that a cash payment of around 25-30k when offered in conjunction with a ceasefire offer usually meets with success. In my current Romani campaign I can afford this kind of payment and it helps with expanding as historically as possible but how long the ai honours the ceasefire is another matter lol

I wonder if the AI would be more reasonable with diplomacy on "easy". If so, I can't help but wonder if there's a way to make a reasonable usage of the "easy" setting without, well, making it "easy".

I dont really mind the war, but for example on my Romani campagin now (yeah you read right, Romani, love them no matter what :)) I am at constant state of war with Lusotani, Arverni, Carthage and Epirotes. And I unfortunately don't have 25k-30k out of blue, it all goes into my army as fast as I can sack cities :) And I dont even have shared border with Carthage but still the bastards wont agree for ceasefire :D

Anyways, does Europa Barbarorum have irc channel anywhere? If not you al are free to join me on #totalwar @ quakenet, for nice Total War chats and whatever ;)

Heh. I usually add money to force a ceasefire whenever I want one. The RTW diplomacy is so screwed anyway, what I do can't possibly screw it up any further, it might actually even normalise relations.
