Help! No ships

Hi everyone, this is my first post. Got the game a few days ago and have hardly slept since.

I seem to have a problem though, and I wondered if you guys could help?

I am playing the Almohads, I have reached the 1130's and have conquored all of Spain. But, I have a problem in that I can't build ships, non of my provinces allow me to build a shipwright. I have built ports and trading posts in coastal provinces but I can't build the shipwright. WHAT AM I MISSING?

Have you upgraded your forts into keeps?

You should be able to build a shipwright after that. Consult your tech tree poster for further upgrades..

What a prat, I didn't understand the tech tree, but I do now.
