You know the screen when you return from the battle that shows the list of players and their kills/deaths? Well F2 doesn't work there and if you try Printscreen and paste it from the clipboard into a paint program, it just shows the background of the image - none of the text shows up so you don't see the names or kills/deaths. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

Easy smeasy.

(Unless youz have a cheap monitor... then you might get that funny flickering look on the pic...)

Alt-PrintScreen to copy the screen. Then Alt-Tab to swith to desktop, open Paint, Word or whatever and paste the screen shot.

Alt-PrintScreen?

But I just said PrintScreen doesn't work - the text doesn't show up. Did you not read my post or are you serious that using "Alt+" will somehow change that?!

It works fine on my system using either the F2 key or pasting to paint from the clipboard.

Your problem may be that you have the screen overlay toggled off for the F2 Screen captures. I think it is the "0" key on the numeral pad that toggles these on or off for the F2 screen capture used by the game.

However, this should have no effect on using your print screen button which puts the exact image you see on your screen on your clipboard. When you paste to paint, it should be exactly what you saw.

Remember that the Windows clipboard to paint method, is a "one shot at a time only" system, unless you exit or Alt tab out of the game, and save it in paint or whatever. On the other hand, the MTW screen capture system will take and hold multiple shots. Of course these two methods are in different formats too.

Hope that helps.

P.S. Something that I don't remember being mentioned in the manual or even on this forum is that the numeral pad's functions
change in the game according to whether you have the mum lock on or off. For example if it is off, the 7/home key will locate your command center. With it on, the 7 key becomes a high speed camera rotate left. There are other differences too.

Thanks, that's the issue - the screenoverlay was turned off by accident. No wonder.
