Does anyone have experience with Virtual PC? I'm having trouble installing OSs on the machine that I have created.

I've had trouble with an older version installing correct video drivers. The solution was getting a newer version, which I haven't done yet in years. :sweatdrop:

Sorry not to be able to help. ~:(

And why would you want to use M$'s stuff when you can go with the best stuff for virtual machines from VMware ?
The VMware server is free...

The 'server' part gets me confusing. Is the free product (VMware Server) an OS emulator such as VPC, that is one that allows you to install seperate OSs on virtual machines, or just a server emulator? I don't understand anything from their website, whose style is cheap marketing lingo.

I dunno why they messed up with the names, either, I agree it's damn confusing. If I understand correctly, their server version is mostly equivalent to what the workstation used to be. I dunno what the workstation is now, since it's no longer free.

But yes, the server version lets you install several guest OSes on top of a host OS.
The workstation - I dunno what it does these days.
The player (VMPlayer) allows you to just use images of OSes that you've previously created. So it doesn't actually let you install an OS, you already have it in an image file created beforehand (or acquired from somewhere), and then you just "run" it.

But yeah, really poor marketing there messing up with the names and features of their products, and their website looks like some cheap fake front for a virtual (pardon the pun) mini-business, in stark contrast to what they really are...

Thanks mate! I'll try their server sometime. Looks like I might be able to play Cutthroats again.

hehe, good work, mate!
Mouza: as a matter of fact, I got VMWare server installed today on my machine, and I'll install an OS tomorrow. I played with it a bit, and there's no significant difference from the old Workstation - nice "wizard" with a few steps, does everything for you, and then you install your OS. Nothing to it, no tricks, no mystical knowledge required.
