I love the battle recorder, but something that I have wondered about, even since Shogun, is why can't the data from any battle that you fight during a campaign be transfered to custom battles for replay?
Sure, it fun to go back and look at your victories, but the only real way to analyize your defeats it to replay them and try different strategies.
Yeah, I know that if you save before a turn, that you can go back and replay the same battle, but it's not always the same.
First, you may not get the same map or weather since they are now random.
Second, it is almost impossible to keep track of individual battles during a marathon
turn of many battles, unless you can save a particular battle in that series.
Third, the temptation to start over using your improved results might just be too tempting. I generally play by iron man rules. My saves are simply to bookmark the game when I am ready to quit.
Anyway, what would be the problems involved with converting or extracting what is needed from those recording files to make custom or historical game data.?
Developers? anyone?

Artillery adds dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl.
