View Full Version : Can't start campaign using EB w/ BI

Hello there!

I just today installed RTW BI, patched to 1.6, then installed EB. Looking at the guides, I changed the target line, renamed the files using "imperial_campaign" to "barbarian_invasion", and deleted map.rvm.

However, every time I try to start a campaign, I get to pick my country, difficulty, etc. Then, when I hit 'start campaign' the game freezes for a moment (presumably attempting to start) then returns me to the "New Game" menu (where you select from EB Campaign, Historic Battle, Custom Battle).

When I attempt to exit the game, it pops up an error saying there is a problem with "DESCR_REGIONS.txt" Line 18 column 1, "can't locate Adiabene"

How do I fix this?

Correction, it says it can't find Adiabene in the stringtable

That error means that you didn't do everything or do everything correctly for the switch to playing with BI. Go over the instructions for playing EB on BI again and see if you forgot something or spelt something wrong.

Seems You missed the following part:

open descr_strat.txt file with notepad, and change this line:

Code:

campaign imperial_campaign

into

campaign barbarian_invasion
options bi

This is optional but recomendable. Open the campaign_descriptions.txt file with notepad. Click edit, replace, and in the box type :

Quote:
Find what : IMPERIAL_CAMPAIGN_
Replace with : BARBARIAN_INVASION_

Better than renaming the files would be:

* 1. Make a shortcut with a targetline:
"your install folder\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:eb -nm -show_err

* 2. Make a copy of: your install folder\eb\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
and rename that copy to: barbarian_invasion (you should now have two folders in that location)

* 3. Make a copy of: your install folder\eb\data\text\imperial_campaign_regions_and_ settlement_names.txt
and rename that copy to: barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.txt.
* 4. Delete: your install folder\eb\data\world\maps\base\map.rwm

You could also try EBforBI (it seems to have been updated to fully work with EB1

Alex.exe for EB 1 is much more stable and wiser to use.. And needs much less time in making it work - It is also RTW and BI save game compatible!
