View Full Version : Query - A.I. factions fighting the Pope...

Does this ever happen? I have yet to see either an excom Catholic or a Muslim or an Orthodox faction wage a proper war against the Papal States even when the Pope is clearly the aggressor. Normally, they never counterattack any provinces taken by the Pope and sorta abandon any hope of ever getting them back.

Certainly happens often, especially on Sardinia and Corsica.

In my retrofit mod game pope literally destroyed sicily and venice...I made haste to buy them from the pope, giving him insane amounts of money (but money is easy to make)

in my games, AI milan, venice and sicily attack and conquer rome frequently. Mostly around turn 40-50. The pope always organise a crusade against rome then, and a couple of turns later, rome is back under Pope-control .

Seriously, ive seen milan make France a vassal (not too difficult), and England a vassal, even though at no point there borders meet!

It probably went like this:
"AHAAAAA!!!! Now I have ONE of your ports blockaded! Now SURRENDER OR CONTINUE TO LOSE 100 florins per turn!!!"
And then the other guys goes "OOOOHHHHH NOOOOO You have one of my ports blockaded, OK OK, I will become your vassal, just PLEASE PLEASE... END THE BLOCKADE of my single port."

The French have become the vassals of both Milan and HRE in my current game. Are vassals of AI able to attack other factions?
