View Full Version : Is it possible to make the battle camera go up higher?

I've noticed that when I'm in a battle where there's a huge temple, I can move the camera up the temple's spire, then fly back out over the battlefield at a great height.

I really like this perspective. I can see everything. Is there any way of modding the game so I can achieve it without having a temple in every battle?

I know what you mean, and I wish you could too, but I don't think there is any way.

Yes, you can edit something in the prefrences.txt, something like max zoom and min zoom, IIRC. I'm not sure cause I've never done it, but give it a try.

I was so excited.

But I had a poke through the preferences.txt, and then through the forum postings about preferences.txt. I haven't found anything like max or min zoom settings.

I'm wondering whether I could script some sort of camera bookmarks...

Hi mrtwisties,
Maybe this is what you're looking for : into preferences.txt, find the line CAMERA_FOV:75.000000 (or whathever the number here is). This controls the battle camera zoom out. Mine is set to 85.000000, so further than vanilla. I don't even remember what it originaly looked like...

TiFlo, I could kiss you. Looks like the camera_fov setting changes the field of view, or the angle at which you look at things. Putting it over 180, for example, puts your field of vision upside down.

You're welcome !

Is there any way of making this go below head hight? It's not a major issue, but when I'm brave enough to use general cam, it irks me that I'm actually seeing things like he would if he stood on the horse's back like a circus act.
